Got a 30-30 Win 94 16" trapper with a cracked but not broken front sight. Where is a replacement part for this or a acceptable upgrade? Are there any gold bead or fiber optic sights for this height and short barrel?

Marbles, lyman, or williams front sight with a .531 width and at least .500 height.
The front band gets in the way so you will probably need to file the front of the sight and contour it flush with the dovetail so there is no overlap of the sight over the barrel on the front. This contouring can make a fiber optic tube look silly, so ivory or brass may be a better option. Beads will come in 1/16 or 3/32. 1/16 is good for longer shots, but 3/32 is better for picking it up in the brush up close(50 yards and in). I use a marbles 1/16 ivory bead (modified for front band) with a skinner barrel mounted peep. |
