Picked up an 1895G the other day. Trying to determine date of manufacture.  Serial number starts with 91, so was it made in 2009?

I've also been doing some research on JM stamped barrels and REP stamped barrels.  Is this a JM stamp on the barrel?  It's kind of crude and wasn't sure.
My rifle doesn't have the ported barrel.  Did Remington start making the Marlin's in 2009 or 2010?  Thanks in advance

I bought an older Marlin a few years ago and called Marlin to find out the manufacture date. Girl that answered asked for my phone # and said she would find out and call me back.  A few mins later she was a s good as her word.

2008 is a 92 date code so I would assume yours is a 2009. with the serial number being on the receiver that is definitely a Remington made gun. The only JM Marlins I've seen with the number on the side of the receiver are some of the special models.

Yes OP it's a 2009 and I have a 1895GS from the same time.Ours are some of the last true Marlins before Remington took over.

I bought mine new from Buds gun shop on line as soon as I heard that Marlin might be sold or go under.

It a fine rifle unlike the Remlins that came after ours.

I have two older Marlins and the fit and finish is the same as my 2009 Marlin.

So it's a Marlin built gun? And not made after Remington took over?
I've been wanting one for awhile and got lucky with this one.  It's used, but I don't think it was shot very much, if at all.  Action is smooth and the finish and furniture are excellent.
Went into my local gun shop and asked the owner if he had any or if he could get one.  He had gotten this one from a lady that sold it to pay bills for her husband.
I'm going to try and get it out to the range on Thursday.

Yes,one of the last before Remington took over. If it were Remington made it would have an REP barrel stamp and the serial number would start with MR.

Let us know how it shoots !!!
