It looks like the front sight ramp is brazed onto the barrel. Am I correct or am I not seeing something obvious?
Oh, my Winchester Mod 94 was made in the 1979-1980 time frame. Thanks. edit title |

I have a Model 94 Trapper in .45 Colt from 1980 and it has a single screw securing the ramp to the barrel. The screw is located in the bottom of the dove tail in the ramp, so the front sight has to be driven out to expose it.
Your mileage may vary, but if a screw is not visible on the ramp, and there is no screw under the dove tail in the ramp, then it's most likely soldered onto the barrel. Be careful to full support the ramp when driving the front sight out (left to right as you look from butt to muzzle) so that you do not shear the screw off. |
