Im looking at getting my first lever gun(To match my Uberti El Patron). Id like to get a .357 color case hardened frame.
Iv narrowed it to: Taylors and Company 1873 Comanchero Rifle .357 Mag, 18" Octagonal Steel Barrel Uberti 342445 Winchester model 73 Any places I could order one of these? Any other suggestion for alternatives? |

Not knowing where you live, yeah, Taylor & Co or Cimarron. Also, if there are any SASS regional matches held near you, check them out. The larger events usually have a good selection of vendors on hand. .357 mag lever guns are, like many things now, in rather short supply, especially the shorter barrel configurations. Good luck.
ETA: May also want to consider a model 92. Many CAS shooters have gone to them as they are considered faster handling. |

Nothing wrong with that at all for cowboy loads. One of the local shops has the same model on the shelf for $1149, and it's a real looker.
Iv decided on this rifle or equivalent. Just really hard to justify the price($1100): Its a Cimarron Deluxe Short Rifle with 20in full octagon barrel. http://pics.gunbroker.com/GB/338620000/338620798/pix084132463.jpg However, I still prefer the model 92 as the action is much stronger and it will handle "Ruger only" .45 Colt loads with no worries about it' long term health. A load that gives me a 250 gr bullet at 1250-1300 fps in a Blackhawk will deliver around 1800 fps in a 20" Model 92 carbine. Basically it gives the same terminal ballistics at 125 yards that the Blackhawk delivers at the muzzle, which is nice on deer sized game. If you can find one, Armi Sport makes a great 20" Model 92 short rifle in a take down model.
