Interested in the M92 lever action. Would like to find one that is closest to or most faithful to the original design (read no extra safety, or a safety with minimal profile that can be removed which would leave the current Winchesters out.)

What's the difference between Puma, Rossi, Legacy Sports International (LSI) & Chiappa? Is one better in quality (fit, finish, action) than the other?

THANKS IN ADVANCE

Well most the Puma's  I have seen have the medallion on the side of the reciever but no safety. The new ROSSI's have the safety, but steve makes a plug for it. The chiappa and such I don't know if they make an 1892 copy.  I am no help there other than I know they willl cost alot more than a Rossi or Puma will. I am addin a link to a previous post of mine when I refinished it so you can see how nice they can look.

Look at a Browning B92, they are really nice, I have one in .357.  Action is very smooth, the fit and finish are outstanding.  You will pay for it but they are worth it

I hereby cast one vote for the Puma/Rossi/LSI, or whatever it is this week.

If the firing pin block safety really offends you, it is easy to replace with a "mushroom pin" in the bolt.

The 20" is light, beautifully balanced, and will slick up nicely with a bit of use. I am not a fan of weakened springs in firearms.

I'm delighted with mine, which I bought just over two weeks ago. (.44 Magnum)

Another vote for the Rossi.

I have a 16" carbine in .45 Colt-only thing I don't like is the stock lentgh (I'm 6'3")-kinda like the AK rifles to me.The stock on my 16 is at least an inch shorter than my 24" rifle.

Both mine feed everything I run thru-my friends Marlin wont feed SWC bullets.

For the price,I don't see how you can go wrong.

Rossis in 357mag are fun and cheap to shoot.  They are strong, accurate, and light weight arms that fit naturally in your hand and at your shoulder.  Once you slick up the action following the simple directions and pictures from Steve's Gunz DVD in his DIY Action Job KIT, you've got a rifle or carbine that is slick, smooth, and terrific fun to shoot.
If it has that stupid bolt top safety, Steve has a Button Style Safety Replacement Plug that takes all of 45 seconds to replace and all you do is open the action a bit.  Both the carbine and rifle are amazingly accurate even out to 200 yds with open sights.  I shoot both at 8" steel plates using my 158grn handloads and they 'ring the steel' with boring consistancy.

If you're looking at either the rifle or short rifle versions (octagon barreled), as a bonus they come with the tang already drilled and tapped for a tang sight.  All you need is the sight and a bolt kit to mount it and you're set.  With a Marbles tang and globe front sight on mine, it's a decent shooter even out to 300 yds with a 158grn pistol bullet!!

BTW, did I mention that they are a blast to shoot?
