My dad recently got a Taylor Arms Quigley model and it didn't come with any manual.
Is it safe to fire Remington, Winchester, and Hornady ammo from it, not Cor-bon or anything wild like?
The trigger also had to adjusted out of the box to even be fired.  I got the directions from Pedersoli's website.
Can the hammer be lowered all the way?  It only goes to half cock currently, so I'm not sure if more adjustments are needed.

Can't you request a manual from Pedersoli?

I just glanced at the Taylor Arms quigley model.

It has the double set triggers, and is basically a falling block action.  In relation to the trigger, the adjustment screw that is in front of it, regulates the pull of the front trigger. The rear trigger is pulled or 'set', and then the screw comes into play as to how much pull is required to fire the rifle with the front trigger.  You can fire the rifle without setting the rear trigger, and iirc the pull is around 10# or so.

As far as the hammer only going down to half cock, you might want to take it apart and see what the issue is.  I'm wondering if the falling block is going down all the way not interfering with the hammer travel.

As far as ammo, I can't suggest anything.  My Shiloh Sharps is 50-140, and I only fire Goex ffg.  I've never used smokeless powder in my rifle.

Contact Taylor and request a manual.

Look through this site, it's the absolute authority on black powder cartridge rifles.

Those guns like cast lead bullets - don't bother with fast jacketed bullet loads. I would look at loads designed for the long range cowboy action shooting events - safety probably isn't an issue, but I might be hesitant to shoot the nastiest 45-70 loads in one.

You can fire modern ammo through them with ease.  But most have a 1 -18 twist rate
