Any reason I shouldn't have my .44mag Marlin 1894 hard chromed? It's a late seventies production rifle that I picked up last year. I want the rifle to have to most durable finish I can get. As it is now, it is blued and both the metal and the wood show a good amount of wear. It hasn't been abused, but has definitely been hunted with. I understand that it will cost almost as much as the rifle itself and I'll never get my money back out of it, but I don't plan on ever selling it anyway. |

Quoted: Quoted: I think it's an awesome idea. If you don't want it to be shiny you can have it Melonited. Is the Melonite finish as durable? My goal is a durable finish I don't have to worry about. Melonite is EVIL tough. I mean....TOUGH!!! I am working on a 1973 M94 and I am thinking along the lines of a brushed hardchrome, myself.....haven't decided yet. |

But I will tell you what I would try first ( being cheap ) . Order some of the following from Brownells . http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=1072/Product/OXPHO_BLUE_reg_ It is the best cold blue I have ever used . I blued a Winny M 1892 with it . It still looks old , but better than it did . And if you do not like it , you can still do something else and have not spent much $$$ . But I WOULD NOT spend almost the cost of the gun on hard chrome ! If you have to , sell it and get a gun in stainless steel . God bless Wyr |

It looks really good! Check it out hereMetalife I think it's an excellent finish, like I posted I had it done about 15 years ago You don't hear much about Ron Mahovsky or his company but I believe his work and product to be excellent My friend saw mine and sent his Trapper to a different company to be Hard Chromed, all I can say is the finish didn't look as good |
| I must admit, i am a traditionalist at heart, but that Trapper looks cool as hell. I think thats an excellent idea if you have a MArlin or safety model Winchester and can part with the bucks ! Big thumbs up !! (i was on the fence until i saw that cool little Winny) |
