Installer "A" is suggesting the following as far as equipment.

Good? Bad? Other?

Anything trounce it for the $$?

(quoting email from sales chick, she isn't the installer)

"DVR is a HIk vision 16 channel DS-7600 series
Cameras are also Hik vision - outdoor dome dome camera with 2.8 MP - DS-2CD2142FWD"

I think more detail about your use case would be beneficial. I've used Hikvision cameras from Nelly's in the past with no issues. Never used Hik DVS though.

I have the Hikvision DS-2CD2132F-I which is a 2.8mm dome, its has a great field of view, the 4mm will be better in places where you need a tight view to get face details.

Installer recommended this model camera for each of three interior cams and 6 exterior cams for my residence. I thought it was odd that this model was the best choice for each single location. Some of the exterior locations will be horizontal mount directly to exterior wall, some will be vertical mount under soffitt
