So, its clear that I'm very close to out of space in my safe.

My austerity measures of one gun out = one gun in isn't cutting it.  I have a couple of pieces that I could sell, but then I'd just get something else.

What I need is a better way to store stuff.  I bought some industrial velcro and put the pistols in their holsters and taped them to the door already.  That helped (some).

How do you store your less used uppers and lower specifically?  Right now I have the mated uppers / lowers in the rifle area, and the remaining uppers and lowers wherever they can go.

Sounds like you need a replacement or additional safe. :-)  I am in a similar circumstance but no good place for another safe.

2/3 of mine is setup for long guns and that part is overfull.  Period.  The top shelf is used for important papers and such.  The remaining 1/3 is 5 narrow shelves that is partially full of hand guns and am in the process of building two lowers- just because, and they will go in the handgun area.

Yep, I had that problem, so I bought another safe.  Then the second one got full and......................now I have 4 safes and they are bursting at the seams.

As far as storing your handguns on the inside face of the door, I have read that storing items directly against any interior wall is a bad idea in the event of a fire.  Also, if the holsters are leather, it is a really bad idea to store your guns in them.

In short, I don't have an answer for the organizational issues except for one idea I had.  Long ago I noticed there was a large open area in the middle of the "U" shaped gun rack.  I took a screw hook and put it on the underside of the top shelf, from this hook I hang a rifle from the sling swivel and it swings in the open area.  This lets me jam 2-3 more rifles in the safe.

Have to agree.  Once the sardine can approach quits working, it's time to buy yet another one.

One of my sardine cans...

It looks worse now.  They all do.

I have a shelf in mine that runs the entire width of my safe, that's where I put my SBRs on.  then I have a series of shelves (4) on the inside right I put other stuff on, ie. important documents, lower receivers, etc.......  you might be able to install  a shelf running the entire width of your safe to put your uppers and lowers on

Gun socks, alternate barrel up/down, pack in like sardines.

Alternately, take some of the cheap stuff out, like 10/22, other 22's, old shotguns, etc and store them out of the safe.

I have a machine gun that I can't fit in the safe!  Maybe I'll just put the receiver in.  Its a BRP with the massive (and expensive) case.

The hand guns are all in the velcro sleeves that came with the safe, or in kydex holsters.

I was hoping for a unique storage shelf solution.  Yea, yea.  I know.

I'm not going to get another safe at this location.  Most likely moving within 3-5 years.  Just have to make do or sell some stuff.  Which I am doing.
