I understand you get what you pay for, but I have to ask.  Has anyone played with one of these 'mini nvr' from ebay or amazon?  I see that some are 1080p, would the hikvision 3mp still work with these?  I understand you would only see 1080p...  Just curious.  Seems like an inexpensive option coupled with an external HDD.

Id be mostly interested in using as an inexpensive camera decoder for your television or remote HDMI monitor  The one that I usually install is in the 500 dollar range
