Hi Group, First time posting on the AR15 site. I hope everyone is having a good new year. I just purchased my first gun safe from a local Champion safe dealer. The process was smooth and dealer was great and delivered it and bolted it down (for a fee). For the past week I've been pawing over it and decided that I needed to see the bolt action from the inside. I set my iPhone on the shelf while closing the door, then tried the handle, pulled the door and then opened it again. I did see the bolt flex somewhat when pulling on the pull (not turning the handle). I wish I thought about doing this to all the safes I was considering like the Liberty Lincoln 25. https://youtu.be/WU35JjV7yro Should this much flex be cause for concern? I think not, but because I have not seen another videos like this I'm not 100% sure. Thoughts? Jim |

my safe flexed like that,so I opened it up and reinforced the bolt "carrier angle iron inside the door.i'm no safe expert but with the additional reinforcement I'd bet I doubled the pry force required in a brute force attack with crow/frost bars pete Which is exactly why certain gun safe manufactures that use those built up "refrigerator" type doors that are thin of steel started using "Anti Pry Bolt tabs" to help solidify the door from a pry attack. |

every safe dealer I have spoken too says only the newbs and morons try pry attacks on the door of any decent safe. With brute force, the sides are always easier to break through. Don't kid yourself. First most people on the street that break into homes are drug heads that have pretty much been in and out of the legal system many times and are not too bright as far as people go. I have looked at a great many pictures of gun safes that a burglary attempt or a successful entry was made on as well as I have seen in the flesh four gun safes where attempts were made to breach the safe and more times than not the door was almost always the target of the attack. If they actually go through the body they generally are very prepared for your safe or you actually made a serious mistake leaving certain power tools available to help them. Ever notice that when these same people who break into a home they always go through a door or window instead of smashing through a wall to gain entry?? |
