I've been in the market for a RSC for the past year or so.
With a now 2yr old I figure its time to upgrade form the Stack-On 14gun cabinet.
I've been looking at larger safes 66x39 or 72x40 models. Figure buy once cry once.
Was looking at a large Bighorn model last year through costco or local store. Big decent construction for china safe 11gauge box and cheaper UL Securam E-lock
Decided if i was spending that would look for a US made safe with a plate door. Was down to a Heritage 66x39x28 for 2100 delivered 1/4 plate door 11gauge body, other option was a Sun Welding model likely a 72x40 in either 1/4plate door and 10g body for $2350 delivered or get an upgraded CE safes version with 1/4 door and 7g body for $2700

I happened upon a local option a factory overrun (I'm 15miles from rhino metals) from what looks to be a CE safes speced Rhino safe with 5/16 door and 3/16 or 7g body 800+ lbs. Only issue is size its a 60x30x21 model so aprox 14-15 cu ft interior space. I'm sure I can fit my existing collection in there but not too much more. I have a feeling i'll be bulling the divider out and stacking my long guns one up one down in gun socks before long.  I'm not thrilled about the Lagard Basic II e-lock but it may have to do. I can get into this model for under $1k.

Am I crazy for buying a safe that this size? Seems like a lot of steel for the price

Take it from a guy who has been there in a sense.  Buy one bigger than you need as your collection will grow over time.
If you don't, you will eventually have to buy another one and maybe another on after that.
From an owner of 3 safes.
