I read that the master locks can be easily bumped or drilled. My intended purpose is for a RIDGID 2048, so I will need a couple decent locks that fit it, but dont cost over $30 or $40 per lock.
Any options? |

I prefer American 5200 series. Anything can be defeated, but these are pretty solid.

after watching that tv show that they auction off storage units 30 seconds or less with those cordless cut off saws no matter what lock,,, that's depressing. Any standard lock can be cut in less than 3 seconds with a cutoff wheel. 30 seconds if i took a nap half way through.

| The above posters are correct. Padlocks provide next to no security since they can easily be defeated with a variety of tools. I would suggest looking for locks with a shroud covering the bolt as someone has linked you to. This will typically prevent bolt cutters from defeating the lock...or at least make it more challenging. Pry or hammer attacks are another method when people install padlocks. Some people don't bother securing fasteners into anything more than plywood...that's just foolish. If you're protecting things of high value, don't bother with a padlock since anyone cut make quick work of it with a battery powered cutoff wheel/grinder. |

Luckily, the shackle is protected inside the body of the job box, so I am not worried about that. If they had a chop saw, they could open the box itself like a can of tuna. I am mostly concerned about drilling out the brass keyhole or bump keys/ This is true. I just use the two keyed alike Master #5 on my Job Box. There are just so many locks that are made to fit inside that protected body. I have read the American 5200 series also fits these boxes. |

I only use Sesamee combination pad locks. Without a doubt best combo pad lock out there."
