i really dont think so. i have had my safe for over a year w/o one and its all good. that said, mine is in the home so temp and humidity is not a prob. if someone keeps one in the garage or lives in a really humid climate like FL i would think its needed.

If inside a climate controlled house, unlikely.  In the summer, you airconditioner will dehumidify the whole house.
One of the rechageable dessicant things Eva-Dry 500 is prettty cheap, and good insurance no matter where your safe is.
If you have power in your safe, you can use one of these Eva-Dry 1100, but I think for an indoors safe in a climate controlled house not needed.
A Goldenrod would also be good insurance.

I personally would use "something" just to be safe.

It depends on where you live.  West Texas? No.  East Texas? Yes.

Buy one desiccant pack and put it in your safe.  See how fast it reaches its limit and has to be 'recharged', then make your decision.
