first off, this stuff is totally greek to me.

what i would like, is an IR camera hooked up to the web so i can check in from time to time to see if all is good in my house while i am at work.  i work nights, and the house is empty while i am not there.

i would also like to not spend a ton of money, as i am divorced and don't have much money.

does such a system exist?  and where could i find it?  heck, i would be willing to set it up myself, but instructions would have to be easy enough that my 6 year old twins can help.

i have read all of TheGrayMan's very informative threads.  and maybe i am missing it.  like i said in the previous post, it's all greek to me.  and i need the instructions to be able to be understood by a six year old.

I am looking for a camera system like this as well. Also, hooking up electronics is not my strong point. Something easy would be great!

Try the "Astak Mole" camera.

I found it at Costco near me for $199.00

ETA: I haven't bought one, and after just looking at reviews it may be one to stay away from.

Look here.  there are some videos that explain how simple it can be.  also read the reviews

I apologize for not weighing in on this one earlier.

Almost all "IP" cameras are internet-accessible... you simply have to forward the port through your broadband router to allow access to the camera.

As for night use, just get one that's "day/night" with an ICR.

Is this indoor or outdoor?  What size area are you hoping to cover?  Is there ANY way it could be wired instead of wireless?  Your options are much better with wired...

ETA:  if you look around for deals/specials, you can get stuff like this... this was a BlueCherry bargain-bin deal ($370 IIRC).  I put one in my baby girl's room so I can look in on her when I'm out-of-town.  Has IR for night-vision, PTZ, and megapixel.  Great for an indoor location.
