I like mine, before I got it Snop gave it high ratings so that was the determining factor.

I have one, only complaint is, if you are going to eventually collect longer guns with barrels over 30" consider getting the same size as the Fatboy that is taller, might loose some capacity but it makes up for it with the extra height.

I have seen you post about 28-30" shotguns before. Can you tell my the over all length that you feel to too much?

I only have 3 very long guns. An 870 wingmaster and 2 Mosin 91/30s

Well there is room in the front to put 8 longer shot guns with 30+" barrels.

You can fit the normal length shot guns with 28" barrels and have about an inch from the bottom of the top shelf.  Now you have to realize that the shelf will have to be raised to the top most location.  This in turns will limit the space you will have on that shelf from top of safe to the shelf.  Hindsight always being 20/20, I wish I would have spent a few $$ more and got the Franklin 50.

If it's a big deal, you could probably break down the shotguns in about 30 seconds and save yourself a bunch of money.

The Fatboy is a decent safe, the Fatboy Jr. is not a decent safe.

Your mosins can fit in there no problem If you move the top shelf to the #3 level, I just did it for my Nagant Sniper and it works. Plus it leaves enough top shelf space for other stuff

Why not?

The Jr. doesnt have as thick of a body, it doesnt have the monster mech, it doesnt have the anti pry tabs, it doesn't have as much bolt coverage, and it doesn't have the 60 minute fire rating.

Any recommendations on equivalent safes in a similar price range?

You get what you pay for. If its the same size as the Jr. at around the same price as the Jr. it isn't going to be anything worth recommending.
