Looking at getting a large safe in the 40-50 cubic foot size.
Sturdy would be the 48wx24dx72h or the Summit Denali 46x28x72. This puts them both with 7 ga. construction.Summit has a thicker plate on the door Sturdy uses insulation and summit uses sheetrock. Summit has more bells and whistles but Sturdy has more practical rifle racks. Main objectives are security, fireproofing and size. Both comparable in price with shipping.Narrowed to these 2.But can't really see them side by side to compare. What does Arfcom have to say.Let's hear some pro's and con's From those that have em or in the know. |

I really don't think you can make a bad choice with either of those, both are very well made RSCs and certainly much more secure than your typical RSC found at Costco.
I own a Sturdy and love it so I admit I have a bias but from what I've seen of the Summit Denali (especially now that it has external hinges) it looks to be a very well made RSC too. The Sturdy has a great fire liner and I think has the edge on Summit but the Summit also uses Ceramic fiber in combination with drywall. I haven't seen a Summit in person but the tolerances of the Sturdy are so tight you can't fit a credit card between the door edge and the body on two of the four edges and just barely on the door opening edge (rounded corners) and the bottom edge. Also what I like about Sturdy, it's just a simple low cost add on option to put more steel in areas that are typically attacked which might also be available with Summit but I don't know how much you can customize theirs. Sturdy has a great life time warranty and great customer support which may or may not be the case with Summit I just don't know enough to comment. |
| Both are very well built. When I had to make my decision, I decided on the Sturdy 4824-6. I tend to prefer Sturdy's ceramic fire blanket liner and the fact you can tack on a ton of customizations now to the Sturdy for extra protection. If looks mattered to me, I likely would have gone with the Summit. But for me the Sturdy does what I need and isn't seen by anybody but me. |
