I'm looking to reinforce my door to my home.  Has anyone here installed the Strike Master II?  If so, what was your opinion of it?  How difficult is it to find the door sensor for the alarm?  I have average carpentry skills, if that helps with recommendations.

Just found theE-Z Armor system looking around the site.  If anyone knows this system or any other please comment.

I have installed 2 strikeMaster2's and it is a good product.  I also have two of these for a MUCH lesser cost.

If your alarm contacts are like mine they are easy to see in the jamb.  It will look like a dime size circle that has been painted over and still flush with the jamb.

Thanks for your reply.  Do you feel these are as strong as the StrikeMaster?  I believe I found the alarm contacts.

Yes.  Somewhere there is a post here that an arfcomer posted a good review.  I used 4" exterior deck screws instead of the provided.  Make sure to pilot drill for screws.  For my project I had to modify the jamb steel on each door to get them to fit b/c our doors were not perfect.  I used a hand file and some elbow grease.  On one door the MFS just laid over everything and hooked right up.

Good way to check to see if you have found the alarm contact is to put your system in chime mode. Than hold a magnet next to the area you believe the contact is, if you here the chime as you pull the magnet away than you know you found the contact. If your system doesnt have a chime feature than hold the magnet in place again and see if the open door fault on your keypad has cleared. FWIW i just installed the Strikemaster II at my house and installation was a snap. Just make sure you predrill your holes and take your time.

I have the Jamb Enforcers, as I just don't see the SM being worth the premium.  Installation was a little more involved(required planing, sanding, etc) for me as my house was built in 1938.  That said, it was still easy and an install on newer construction should be a breeze.

I've got the EZ-Armor kits and they were quite easy to install and I have practically no carpentry skills.  The biggest advantage to the EZ-Armor kit is that you also get pieces to reinforce two of the door hinges and both the deadbolt and latch on the door itself.  I didn't use the pieces that go on the door as the fit was too tight but I did install the door jamb and hinge reinforcers, which are secured by 3 1/2" screws (7 in jamb, 4 in each hinge protector).   My doors are fiberglass and while I think a determined person could destroy it enough to gain access to the house, it would take enough time that actually coming in would not be a good idea.

Now I'm worried about my windows.    I need to do more research on window security film.
