I was looking at a Fort Knox Protector last week as a first safe, but $3799 seemed a bit steep.
The same dealer offers a Summit Denali in gloss finish for $3200, out the door. The Summit has a 7ga body, compared to a 10ga on the FK Protector. The Summit seems to be a better safe for less $$...am I missing something? |

Nope, Fort Knox safes tend to be overpriced for what they are. Most guys buy them because of the name and what they know about them. Get the summit, it is a better safe. Thanks for the help! So, does $3200 OTD for the Denali 50 in a gloss finish sound like a decent deal? |

I tried for MONTHS a year ago to get any of the WA state dealers to call me, email me, send me ANY information at all. When I finally did get a Summit dealer to email me, all I got was a snotty attitude. This pissed me off so I called the factory directly in Spanish Fork, UT. I Got nowhere with them as well. All they did was refer me back to the JERK that pissed me off in WA. I finally bought a Browning Medallion from a dealer in Vancouver WA in April. I'm happy with my Browning, but I really wanted that Summit, They just failed all around. That DPX Storage system inside the Browning is really nice!

FWIW, I got a used TL-30 ,70x36x32, 4500lb, insurance rated safe for $3200 installed.
It's not pretty but it's absolutely functional. It's a real safe. If your looking for a glossy finish with gold accents and sheet metal walls, then a TL isn't for you. If you look around, you can probably find a similar deal in your area. Good luck! |

Not looking for a pretty safe with gold accents, looking for a functional safe. Been looking for quite some time for used safes with no luck. The Fort Knox and Summit safes are in stock in my area. |

We are a Browning Master Series Dealer also. |

He did mention that Summit didn't make a 50 anymore, that this one was 6" (46"?) wider if that makes a difference? Not sure how the EX differs? |

I started off looking at the Ft Know and Liberties but knew they were going to be a premium so went looking to Champion.
Then I found out about Summit. If I were to buy a "gun safe" from a dealer it would be Summit. Via internet then prolly Sturdy. But I am holding out on a used TL 30 now that fits my needs. Some new AMSECs really are not that bad if you look around and can stand cream color.(except for shipping $1000) I found a used TLTR 30 x 6 in the size and price I want buts it half a Country away. Individual seller wont arrange shipping. |
