I need a new safe.  I am trying to decide between an AMSEC 7240 72"x40"x28" and a 15yr old Bank Refurb TL15 72"x38"x3. Both cost within 200$ of each other.  Is there any reason I shouldn't go with the TL15?

If the TL15 had to go in the garage due to weight would that change your choice?  Thanks.

I can't think of a reason not to go with the TL15.

Hmm... good question...  Personally, I would do everything possible to keep it inside the house, but I understand weight issues. IMHO, as long as it is bolted down properly etc and you have proper humidity controls in place, I still think the TL15 in the garage is better than the Amsec in the house. But it's a really close call so other may bring up other good points to the contrary of mine and convince me to change my mind.

If you are not near the coast and you have a good dehumidifier system, I would not worry about it. Bolt it down of course and insulate the garage if you can. It makes it more pleasant to work in there as well. You can insulate the back of the garage door even. TL-15 or bust.

Definitely the TL-15.  Especially if you have good neighbors or an alarm.

TL-15, no question.

TL15, if you have an alarm system, you can or pay someone (licensed) to install a gizmo for the safe itself.   That way no worries about leaving it in the garage.
