I currently live with my parents, but I'm in the process of looking for my first home.  I do not have a safe right now, but would like to purchase one whenever I move.  My budget is around $4000 and I think I have narrowed it down to either an Amsec BF7250 or Study Safe 4827-6.  I want fire lining and both almost come out to the same price delivered.  Below are the links to both safes.

Amsec BF7250

Sturdy Safe 4827-6

I have been doing a lot of research and both companies get great reviews.  Do any of you guys have either of these safes or know anyone who does/  I would like to get some opinions of the two before I drop this much coin on a safe.

Thanks for the help.

Both are secure, the BF may be better fire rated.

The BF by a long shot.

Why is that?

for $4k check out these guys:

http://www.worldwidesafe.com/sub-commercial.htm

$4k should get you into a real TL-30 safe.  2hr fire rating at 2000+ degrees.

They had some used ones a while back, and I got mine delivered and installed for $3800.

The problem with the TL30 safes are the size.  The size I would need exceed the $4k limit.  I have a fairly large collection and need to get the most size for the buck.  The two I have posted above should last me a while, in terms of size.

My collection is  at 30+ firearms, numerous suppressors, and I would also be storing valuables in it as well.  I also have plans for at least 2-3 more firearm purchases each year.

WorldWide-6536  72” 43”  35 1/2”

Amsec Dimensions   71¼"H x 50"W x 26"D

Sturdy  48"W 27 "D 72 "H

The WW safes come in sizes just as big.  Mine is the top set of dimensions.
It is REALLY deep, and actually has more cu ft than the ones you listed.

Not bashing your decisions, just trying to pass on a good company to deal with and a good deal on a good safe

No,  I appreciate all the help I can get.  I thought the $3800 was for the smaller ones.

I just checked.  Damn,  those safes are heavy.

Nope see here:

http://www.worldwidesafe.com/prodTL30.htm

I bought the largest TL-30 model - WW-6536.  $3800 delivered and installed by 5 guys with moving equipment.

Some of their TL-30x6 and TLTR etc safes come bigger, but I think for any average gun owner, TL-30 is sufficient.

One thing to consider though, is moving it.

At over 2 tons, it will be roughly $700 or so to move it.
It can't be done without a crew.

Do they still have any of the TL30-WW-6536 in stock?

How did you find out about the deal?

Do a search on my name. I did a write up about it last year.

I doubt they have any of the used ones left, but you never know.

In my write up, I posted the contact info for my sales guy.  They were top notch to deal with.

Heh... I found it.

Another member got in on the deal at the time though... can't remember who it was.  Has some post about his dual TL-30 safes...."twin towers" or something.

Those safes look like a good deal. I have a few questions about the construction, relockers, hinge setup, fire testing, and door frames, but For the most part they look fairly secure and well fire rated. Even if a safe is rated well, you still need to ask questions about them.

I asked alot of questions before I bought.

If you have something specific in mind, I'll tell you what I know.

Is the body stitch welded?

How thick is the plate in the door?

How thick is the steel in the body?

What are their fire testing methods? Pyro probe placement, furnace heat up time, inside max temp?

What is it line with for fire insulation?

- No, The entire thing is one bell cast.
-The plate on the door is front and back 1/2 steel (1" steel total) with 3" of concrete and steel reinforcing.
-The body is 1/4" steel front and back (1/2" steel total) with 3" of concrete and steel reinforcing.
-I don't know where the probe was placed, but it is listed as 2250F 2 hour.  Max temp inside will reach is 350F.
-Fire insulation is provided from the 3" of concrete pour - 12,000 psi.
-Dual S&G mechanical combo locks.
- It weighs over 2 tons.
- TL-30 rating

For $3800 delivered, it was a great deal.

I'd done my research for a few months before I fell into this one.

Will a 4" garage slab handle a 2 ton safe without breaking or cracking?  That's a lot of weight on a small spot.

Yes - no problem.

Concrete slab (under most conditions) can handle 2000 pounds per square foot safely.

I almost went with world wide safe.

At one time I was dead locked between those 2 companies and safes.

I didn't go with world wide and I am glad I didn't.

The large sized safes are not door friendly.

If your are looking to put it into a garage with no steps it shouldn't be to hard and they sound like great safes.

I think there is a couple of threads where people fitted them to be gun safes.

I went with Summit.
