A local shop has the Champion safes for sale and I need to know if they are any good. Anyone have one?

I have a Champion Triumph 25 and I really like it.
The only complaint I have is that even though the burgundy paint looks great it seems to chip rather easily on the edges.
It would have been nice if they would clear coat them.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  Champion safes give great value for the money and after checking out all the other manufactures  I am very pleased with my purchase.
BTW I would encourage you to go with the manual lock as it has a much better warranty.
Also I see your from Ohio.
I bought my Champion from Sportsmen Den in Shelby Ohio.
They had a much better price on the same exact Champion than what my local store was selling it for.
I saved $400.00 dollars !

Stockers in Champion Ohio has the one I am looking at. It is the "medalist" in a dark gray color. The price is $1400 with them bringing it over and setting it up. It is just over 800 pounds if I remember right. It has the regular lock, the keypads do not interest me.

I have a champion, and am pretty happy with it. Although, if I were to do it again, I'd have saved up for a few more months and gotten an AMSEC. The online price for the same size safe as my champion in a BF line AMSEC would have only been ~$600 more.

i love my champion crown 50. at 1600lbs it can be tought to set up. i have nothing but good to say except it is now running out of room for me, and am awaiting to build a new house with a 10x10 vault room and graffunder vault door. you can never have enough room so get the biggest you can afford.

The bottom long shelf in my Champion started to sag in the middle right away. I added a piece of 1"x 1 1/2" oak board to the bottom in the middle and it took care of the problem. I kinda knew this was going to happen becasue this is the shelf where my pistols sit and it's a lot of weight. I keep my safe in my unheated garage during the cold Minnesota winters and have not had a rust problem yet (2 years).

They are not the top of the line safes but for my budget, it was a great buy.

I talked to a Champion Rep last weekend and he assured me they are made in the US.  I've looked at a lot of safes over the past month and Champion looks extreemly well made for it's price range.

They are made in the US, but assembled in Mexico. Mine says that. Why they do it that way I have no clue.

But, all the welding and stuff is done here. I purchased mine from the factory, which is just a few miles south of where I live. The Liberty Safe factory, as well as the Ft. Knox factory are also both local, and I've toured all 3...

And own a Champion because of it.

Which model Champion did you get?

I have the Trophy 25 in the Textured Jade. I really do like it, but I've learned that internal hinges suck. I really wish I could open the door more. Luckily, it's almost full, so I should be able to convince the wife I need a new one soon. While I still plan on getting a Brown TL listed safe someday...my next safe will be an AMSEC, unless I win the lottery.

ETA: I guess I can do this since it's not in the Q&A post that I did last year. I just didn't want to show any bias in that for obvious reasons.  IMHO, Champion is the best gun safe on the market for it's low price. I like the trophy line because it has an excellent value. If you have a little more to spend, Sturdy safe or Amsec would be my next choice. I prefer AMSEC (BF line) over the two, but only by a very slim margin. Those are the only three main safe manufactures I'd consider buying from. So...

Budget: Champion Trophy line
If you have some $$ to spend: AMSEC BF line or Sturdysafe
If you have lots of $$: Brown TL-15 or TL-30, Graffunder TL-15 or TL-30, or AMSEC TL-15 or TL-30 safes.

CH-25 owner here.  I love it.  I'm getting a new T-60 (huge bastard) to sit on the other wall in my safe room later this month.
