Hey Everyone,
I've been doing a lot of research on gunsafes as I need to get one when I return home from this deployment. I've been looking at a few 36" wide models from companies like Amsec. Anyway, my biggest complaints about the insides of safes are they are so generic. Would it be possible to gut a safe after purchasing it and installing my own interior that's better suited for my needs? Thanks, Wicked |
| When I bought my safe, I immediately removed the non-removable divider (saw). Most safes are built to hold bolt guns or other non-pistol grip type rifles. The only thing I left in mine was the upper shelf. All other dividers and shelves are gone. Of course, it all has to do with how many weapons you need to store in it. |

I'm in the same boat.
I've narrowed it down to either Sturdy or Browning. The biggest problem is I would need to order my safe through the local guy so I can trade in the old one and get the removal & installation. The cat's ass would be if I could put the DPX storage system in the Sturdy. |

| Some safe manufacturers allow you to order without an interior. On some the cost savings is worth it but on others it is maybe $75 or so. Not really worth it then. Easier to customize an interior than start from scratch. I'm getting an older Browning without the DPX system so I am going to try and adapt some pegboard to the back of the door for hanging pistols in cases and what not. |

DOH! |

Sturdy's not even close to the high end Browning's interior and exterior finish, and Browning's not in Strudy's league when it comes to security. I'd go for security over fancy paint and carpet. |

I am still happy with the "Store More Guns" system that I am using in my safe. Here is a link to a post with my review.
