Project MPX-K SBR...

I'd originally picked this up as a partial trade for one of my 1911. Until this past July, I didn't know if I was going to keep it or flip it. Then the whole 41F ruling was going to take place, so it's spurred me into keeping it. And also, I'll be using this in next season's USPSA PCC division.

I'll be running a folding stock mechanism so this should fold up and fit in this case nicely. Still waiting on the Form1 stamp.

The original handguard was recently chopped a couple of inches. Which took off 2.4oz from the front. And once the barrel is chop, hope that will cut down a few more ounces.

The barrel was just sent off to be chop from 8" down to 5". This is 0.5" longer than the K-version's 4.5". Since this will also be a comp gun, I want the additional 0.5" for added FPS to make minor power factor.

I also want to be able to run this for HD with my SilencerCo Octane 45. Since the can is 8.5" long, I wanted to get the OAL shorter. Figuring roughly 5" + 8.5" would be around 13.5" OAL. However, that wasn't going to be enough.

An idea had came to me. Since the can will be directly thread onto the barrel, I "could" increase the threading area further into the barrel. So after a phone call to SiCo, and some messages to the gunsmith, the green light was given to be able to tuck the can as deep as the piston assembly. So this will give me roughly under 2" to sink the can. Therefore, the new OAL will be right around 10" for the whole barrel and can. This will give similar measurements as those with 4.5" barrel and the SiCo Omega 9K suppressor (4.7").

That's a rough mock up of total OAL with the can threaded over the barrel. The edge of the tape, near the muzzle end, represent the 5" mark. And since 0.5" of the barrel is sunken into the upper, this should be right at the 10" mark. LOL

Hope to get the barrel back in a week or so. Stay tune for updates.

Interesting idea. So the end of the muzzle will be right at the start of the 1st baffle then? In other words you don't have a blast chamber as your barrel will be filling that area?

Yes, that's correct.
