I just picked up my MCX.  I'm really starting to like it the more I look it over and fondle it.  It's really well made imo.  I've been pleasantly surprised so far.  I hope to get out this weekend and put some rounds through it.

I do plan on SBRing it.  For those of you who have done it, did you just have the barrel cut down?  What length did you go?  Who did it?  Did you have to cut the hand guard or did you just leave the barrel long enough?  I was going to have mine cut to 10.5", but that would put it inside the hand guard and my suppressor won't fit.

Thanks for the input.

I haven't done anything to mine-but I would get the factory parts and maybe someone would buy the take off's once they release the 300 BO and would want them. Not knowing the MCX and if barrel length affects functioning with gas ports.

What I did is just send in form 1 and hope that Sig is on around the same schedule with barrels as the BATFE is with approving a form 1.

The factory short barrels are 9" (from http://www.sigevolution.com/_includes/SIG-MCX-Brochure.pdf) for the pistol and SBR, but the MCX manual also lists additional lenghts of  6.75", 11.5", and 14.5" barrels in the various model specs (PDW, CQB, Tactical Patrol).  Since the 9' barrel is currently in production and shipping on pistols and SBRs, it is logically the first short barrel available separately, so I put 9" for the barrel and 28.75 for the OAL with the stock unfolded (specs from the brochure). I haven't seen a 9" barrel available yet to dismantle to measure the gas block internals or opening, so I couldn't say what differences (if any) Sig has designed into the shorter barrel.  A phone call to their CS would probably give you a decent idea.  If their regular CS doesn't know, the Sig Silencer guys seem to be on point with most things Sig.

I had planned on going 10.5", but the rail is too long for that since I will run a suppressor on it.  The shortest I can go is 12.5" I think, so I may just end up going with that for now.  I really need to get that form 1 submitted.
