Well i picked up a Sig556 the other week used at a local gun shop.  Gotta say I love it.

I would really like a scope for it however.  Can someone tell me the name of the scope from this old advert from guns and ammo?

It's an ok scope, has crystal clear glass with an illuminated etched reticle. a little on the pricey side if buying new. There's a couple of them on eBay for less than half of what mine cost. the only reason I got rid of it was because the eye relief wasn't all that great.

I setup all my rifles for CQB except my M1A. I'm currently running a Vortex optic on my Sig 556xi, I'd recommend you try out different optics and decide what you'll be using your rifle for and base your setup around that.

If you want a red dot...
Aimpoint/EoTech/Primary Arms

If you want a fixed mag optic, ACOG/BROWE are hard to beat
If you want variable, I think the Vortex PST 1-4 is tough to beat.

How much you wanna pay for an optic?

Magnified fixed power, magnified variable or a red dot?

I primarily ran a Trijicon TA44 on mine while on patrol. https://www.trijicon.com/na_en/products/product3.php?pid=TA44S-10

My XTR is a first generation model with the german crosshairs and center red dot.

Both super clear glass. The TA44 is light as hell but robust. The XTR is very well built too.

I stuck with the TA44 since I did not realistically see myself engaging targets past 200-300 yards with my Sig 556.

Thanks for the help.  Was looking to spend less than $500.  Really like EOtech but not sure if i want one on the sig.  I kind of like the sig optic but it seems kind on lame
