Any Tac2 owners out there?  Thoughts?
Very interested in the Blaser platform since you can change barrels from .308, .300, .338 in a matter of minutes (seconds in some cases).
I know the SSG3000 is the rage right now, rightfully so being a sub MOA gun for under $1,500 - but I'd like to reach out and touch something with a .338/.300 too.

I just got one to add to my SSG3000 but I haven't put glass on it yet so no chance to try it out so far.

I have the Tactical 2, but only in 308. The SSG3000 is the new toy in the safe so it has been getting most of the attention lately though.

What did you want to know about the Tac2?

How do you like that Premier on the Tac 2? I have the same rifle combination as you but still need an optic for my Tac 2 and haven't decided on what I want to put on it yet, thanks.

Nice!

I just picked up a .308 Tac2 at the Sig Pro shop yesterday.  Very excited to try it out!
I saw a few different versions - One was a beta product with a new forward rail system and folding stock, another was a folding stock version of the one you have in your picture.
I ended up getting the same one you have...I just need to find the rear buttstock monopod now.

Once I have the setup together I'll post some pictures.  And a range report too eventually.

I love my Premier 5-25x56mm with gen 2XR reticle. When I decided on a scope for this rifle I sat down and made a list of features i wanted in a scope. Mil type reticle, mil adjustments, large target knobs, minimum 30mm tube, min 50mm objective, FFP reticle. I did a lot of research on line and asked some shooting buddies I know that are into the high end optics for their opinions. IN the end I settled on Premier or S&B. I liked the knobs and the reticle choices on the premier a little better and was going to get the 3-15x50mm but I lucked into a good deal on the 5-25x56 on the hide. Glad I got the bigger one after I had a chance to try out a friend's 3-15x50. The extra magnification on the 5-25 helps me use the reticle better with my eyes. It is super sharp. The first time I looked at the steel target on my local range that is about 700 meters out and sits on top of an old M113 APC hull, I could actually see all the pock marked texture from all the bullet impacts on it. I dial in corrections of elevation and windage all the time and all over the place with the steel targets on our range and the scope always comes right back to zero. When i dial in the corrections from my Bullet flight app it is always right on where the adjustments are supposed to be. It is one top notch piece of glass.

That Nightforce on my SSG is no slouch either though. I mainly use holds with it though since it is MOA adjustments with Mil reticle. I plan on sending it in to get the knobs swapped out for Mil as soon as I can though.

I find myself not using the rear monopod very much. I just feel more steady with the rear bag. The monopod is a fairly narrow rod and allows some flex/wiggle. I can see my pulse in my scope view when I am using it. It's good to have if I forget my rear bag or in a spot where my rear bag isn't quite high enough though. If I didn't get one with my Blaser, and knowing what I know now, and given the price of it, I doubt I would buy one if I were getting another Blaser Tac2.

Do you know what the barrel thread is on the Tac2?  I have a Gemtech Quicksand 5/8x24TPI - I know the SSG3000 is standard 5/8x24 but I'm unsure of the Tac2.  Some say its 5/8x24 standard but Sig customer service says its 18x1.....  I don't want to tear up the threads trying out my QUicksand muzzle break...  Crossing my fingers its not a non-standard thread.

Thanks for the info!

Did you ever use the factory muzzle brake like the TRG one? I would like to get one for mine and was looking at that one. Thanks for all your info, its been a great help.

I originally had the large factory muzzle brake. It is exacly the same as the one from SAKO and was cheaper when bought through the Beretta web site than getting it from SIG. It was very effective at controlling recoil. The clamping bolt also made aligning it properly pretty simple.

I swapped that brake out for the AAC brake with 51t mount. The AAC brake is significantly lighter and raised my zero .9mil when I switched. It doesn't control the recoil quite as well as the SAKO brake, but I got it more for the suppressor mount asppect.

The threads are M18x1 on the blaser .308 barrel. It's not as easy to find muzzle devices to fit that thread as it is for 5/8x24, but not impossible either. The SAKO trg uses the M18x1 as well so it is more the defacto Euro standard like 5/8x24 has become the defacto US standard.

I'm talking to a gunsmith to see if I can re-thread the barrel to 5/8x24 so I can put my Gemtech on it.  Hopefully there won't be a problem cutting/rethreading the Blaser barrel - it seems pretty solid.
I've honestly never changed or customized a barrel before so I'm pretty new to that - so it might be pretty simple, but I'm still a tad nervous.

UPDATE - I guess I didn't do enough research on the Gemtech website.  They just released a 18x1 mount (non-break).   Guess I'm lucky AND an idiot.
Thanks for your help either way!

Lucky for us Blaser Tac2 owners that the SAKO TRG has the same threads otherwise I doubt there would be much available for it since the Blaser is not very common.

Then to make matters even more confusing, AI uses a M18x1.5 thread. If they had gone 18x1 too, then muzzle devices for 18x1 would probably be almost as common as 5/8x24.

If you still have your factory TRG muzzle brake and want to sell it I would be interested, thanks.

Do you keep the bolt in when storing?  I've seen some pictures of Blasers with the bolt taken out when stored.
Also - how often do you tighten the barrel to the chassis?   Since your storing it with the barrel attached, that answers another question I have about detaching it.

I don't store it in the pelican case. I just use it for transporting it to the range. It stores in the safe.

I don't take the bolt out when cased. I cut out a little piece of foam in the lid of the case to accommodate the bolt handle.

I don't take the barrel off so I don't retighten the bolts. I have checked them a couple of times and they haven't loosened at all.

Sounds good.  I was told by Sig to transport/store it without the bolt in the receiver.  But, I'm sure either way is fine.
Thanks for the help!

I agree. In most cases a bolt should be removed when transporting as the bolt handle gets a lot of presure put on it while cased in most typical hard cases. This is why I cut out a small rectangle in the foam of the lid to give a hole for the bolt handle to go into so no pressure is on it. I also cut a round hole for the windage knob of the scope. Any time I have a pelican case for one of my guns and something protruding too much from the side of the gun leaves an indentation in the foam I cut it out to give reliefe to that part. Usually bolt handles, scope knobs and bubble levels, etc.

On my M400 SPR I also did it for the mini red dot I have in 45 degree mount on the right side.
