| 2 months ago I bought a Sparc based on a positive review here on ARFcom. It's been to the range twice and died on the second day out. I thought it was the battery but it wasn't. The rifle has maybe 200 rounds down range with this on it. Thankfully, Sportsmans Warehouse is taking it back but I will NOT be buying another one. I hope this was a one off experience. I was trying to save a few bucks by going with the Sparc but it was enough that I dropped the extra coin and went back to an Aimpoint. |
| The battery was fine but I tried another just the same and it wasn't in night vision mode. All I know is that I'm looking at a dot down range and I went to adjust the intensity down a notch and the dot was gone. Never to be seen again. Very disappointing. I just bought Butler Creek caps that fit it too and now I'm stuck with em. |

Well, you didn't answer the most important part, if you finger or tool tightened the batt cap. :p It says right in the manual, and vortex has posted on the optics section that 95% of the problems they see are from people finger tightening the cap rather then using a coin or tool to tighten it. Just as a FYI :) |

Toxie,
Thanks for your suggestions. Yes, cranked her down. As I was saying, the optic ran fine for probably 200 rounds and when it quit, the first thing I checked was to see if it was in night vision mode. Then I ensured the cap was tight and it was. The optic simply stopped producing a dot. I've of heard of it happening in only a few other cases but it was enough that I went to a bigger but time proven aimpoint M3 platform. When the SHTF, I need to KNOW the optic won't fail me if my life depends on it. Quoted:
