Hey Everyone,
A few months back I purchased a 522 from my local dealer and took it out to the range with the factory BDM only to notice the magazine follower seems to get stuck about 50% of the time not pushing the rounds up, just letting them fall out loose... So I thought it must be a bad magazine, just order some more. So I placed an order through Palmetto St. Armory for 3 more BDMs (1black, 2 clear) and took them to the range as well as the original. However they have the same problem as the original, all 4 magazines about 50% of the time get jammed. Sometimes I can go through the magazine fully 1 or 2 times and then it will start jamming. To narrow down the problem I checked the ammo (CCI MiniMags) and tried other containers of Minimags, as well as compared to other ammo, all with the same problem. So far the gun has around 300-400 rounds through it, still showing the same problem. So I'm trying to figure out if anyone else had this problem and how to fix. I have had many many sig handguns and still do have some, but with them almost all of them have had 1 problem or another, and when sent back to Sig, Sig has yet to ever fix the problems, just send them back and say all is good. So needless to say I have very little faith in Sig fixing this problem.... As well as I know they aren't gonna fix the palmetto state BDMs. I have tried to contact BDM a few times but never get a call back or email back. So thoughts, suggestions, etc??? |
| Hi are the mag's fiting very tight in the mag well? I know that some pople with the early sig's had a problem with the Mag's sticking in the mag well. Might be distorting the Mag. Over 2000rds on mine with no problems. Does the stock mag from Sig work ok with it? |

That could be it.
You could try taking the mag apart and LIGHTLY sand the either the inside of the entire magazine of the sides of the follower. I would also reccomend putting some type of lube on the sides of the follower. Should keep it from hanging up. My early March production 522 has a way LOOSE mag well, so Sig seems to have fixed the problem. |

Sorry guys, forgot all about this thread, as started some others on different issues at the same time.
My mag well is loose if anything. I can change the angle of the bullets, etc by pressing forward or back on the mag when in the gun. At first I thought this was the problem, but then realized that would not cause the follower to hang halfway down.... Also the follower likes to stick when loading rounds, as sometimes I have to push pretty hard to get the first round in. I took all the the mags (including the Sig supplied BDM) apart, and coated the sides where the follower rides with some CLP, but it made no difference. Its as if sometimes the follower angles itself wrong in the magazine and gets stuck. Then all the bullets above it, just fall out. If it had just been the Sig supplied mag, or the Palmetto State bought mags, I would have sent either or back, but seems wierd that it would be with multiple mags from multiple vendors.... |

I have had some of the Butler Creek 10/22 mags do that, so now I treat all my 22 mags with spray silicone from walmart. I put the nozzle down in the mag body and give a 2-3 second blast, then shake up the mag to distribute the silicone. Set them out in the sun to dry for a few hours, and when dry I work the follower a few times with a small stick (chopstick in my case). It has remedied all of my mag sticking problems.
I am sure it won't fix ALL mag problems, but it has done wonders for mine. Doc I have an EXTREMELY tight magwell on my 522. Silicone on the outside of the mag did not fix the tight magwell problem Doc |
