| I have a Sig 556 and had a question about the sights... My rifle has just the standard front sight on it and I was thinking getting a decent rear sight like a troy one would be nice. Do you guys know if I would need to get a front sight replacement too or would it work just fine with the sig standard one? And one last note, if it wouldn't work with the sig standard front sight do you know if the front sight can be replaced with a troy or other sight? |

Ok, this is going to get squirrelly , Troy BUIS are AR height so they will not work with the SIG front. Troy has come out with SIG height sight sets but you have to get the Troy SIG Battlerail so they will be on the same plain. Now you could replace the SIG front sight with MI SIG front sight and use any AR height rear BUIS this works well with the Old SIG556 but would be to high for the Classic's. Oh and by the way Troys Battlerail is for the old 556 as it does not have the 'nub' for the side folder.

Hmm, I see.. Thanks for the info... Guess I should have just gotten the SR-556... :) I was kind of naive and thought the Sig556 was a AR-15 platform... Oh well...
Edit: I might just have to get a front rail then the troy pair of sights or something... I really didn't want to spend that much and would have just gone with a SWAT version had I known this would be such a issue... |

I'm pretty sure you can get the Samson or MI folding front sight and pair either on of them with any of the aftermarket AR rear sights.
The Sig sight sets that come with the rifles are matching front and rear...if you mismatch different Sig iron sights, they won't work. ie, you can't use the Sig Diopter rear sight with a non-Sig556 Classic hooded front sight. |

Watch out, if your is the Classic lower, the Troy Battlerail does not have the 'stud' for the sidefolder, there has been talk that Troy was going to come out with a Battlerail with the 'stud' though its not on their web-site ???

Okay cool... What is live rebate and would you recommend the MI one or a Samson one? Or are they the same?

I think the Samson has a few more features. You have a choice of either HK or A2 ears, it locks in both the up and down position, it has a button instead of a pin, and it has a spring.
I don't know that any of those features really add much to the utility of the sight though. I have the MI, and it works fine. That deal I mentioned a couple post back for the the MI site on ebay/Live is no longer available. Sorry about that. |
