i'm replacing the side-folder on my 556 with a SG551 side folder. can someone PLEASE explain to me how this is done in plain english...

i've read the armorers manual about 10 times, and i can't - for the life of me - figure out what the f it's saying. it's like i'm not even reading english. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is this a classic 556?  If so, just punch the roll pin out that holds the stock in place.

yeah, classic.

it doesn't look like a roll pin - looks solid. the armorers manual calls it an axle, and seems to indicate there is a "spring cup" as well... normally i'm a hammer first, ask questions later kinda guy. this time around i'd like to not break something first.

That spring cup is just a washer thingy.  It should come out fairly easy.

interesting. it would appear that the first time i've asked before hammering, would have been the first time hammering would have been successful.
