| I'm using the red dot that come with my P556. There seems to be a slight amount of play in the 1-11 dial when set to any of the numbers. The dial is not spinning freely. It stops at each number. But at each number there is a slight amount of play. Under fire, the dial moves around slightly and shuts off. In other words, when the dial is adjusted to a number is stays on. But, if you move the dial slightly clockwise/counter clockwise to the ends of the loose play (as it does when you shoot) it will shutdown. After another shot or two it comes back to life because it rattles back to the middle. I hope that makes sense. Does anyone have fix for this? |

The fix is to take that POS, sub-airsoft quality sight that Sig gives you and put it down range and shoot it! Sig gets on my nerves by selling crap sights, flashlights, and other low end accessories that they import under their name. Seriously, a $39 red dot from your local store would hold up better than the Sig.
If you really like it, I would call Sig and have it replaced. I am wondering if they will make you send your entire rifle back to them, because that seems to be their only answer these days. "Hey my stock has a crack in it, can I get it replaced under warranty?" SIG: "Sure, but please send the entire gun back to us so that we can test fit the new stock and ensure proper stock placement" Sorry for the rant, but that sight is the biggest piece of junk. They charge $215 for it new if you buy it online. For another $100 you can get an EOTech when they are on sale. |

Covert,
Yeah, I certainly wouldn't trust my life to it. But, right now I don't have the $400 for an EOTech. Heck, after paying for the Troy rail and tax stamp I can't afford the vert grip I want. I'm not a huge fan of the POS sight it came with but I was hoping for a quick fix to make it at least stay while shooting. It still works...kinda. I don't want to tear into it too far and completely kill it.
No way is Sig getting this gun back. Besides, now that it's a F1'd SBR they would probably disown it anyway. I guess I'll write Sig and see if they'll take just the sight back. I was hoping for a quick fix.

firedog55,
Cool. I wish this thing would stay on because when it does it works just fine. It will shoot 1.5" groups with Wolf 55gr at 100yrds on a bench. Unfortunately it won't constantly stay on...wanna trade? Say, what kind of fire dog are you anyway? I'd assume a structure guy being from MO and all. 16 years in wildland here. |
