Airsoft and it is a 552, not a 553 (you can tell by the cocking knob).

A little surprising to see someone put name-brand accessories on an airsoft gun.

Probably chinese knockoffs. They do look like the real deal though.

Who would put a $300+ optic on an airsoft gun?

How come the airsoft guys get rear sights?

Because they are serious tactical operators.

It wouldn't surprise me if one of those goddamn Airsoft guns has an actual, compatible-with-SAN set of diopter sights.  They've made everything else so frigging accurate, might as well make us real shooters some sights.

Josh is correct. It is a Airsoft 552. This man knows his SANS Sig's.

I have one. The box is marked "Sig 552 Seals, Advanced N.S.W. carbine." Automatic Electric Gun.

It is manufactured in Japan by Tokyo Marui. They make some of the finest Airsoft guns on the market.

Sig Sauer in Exeter, NH imports them for the US market. The gun is very true to scale.

I bought mine through a Sig stocking dealer. He did have to order this though.

By buying it from Sig, the gun comes with all the markings on the receiver intact.

If bought from another source, the markings are filled with putty, and all the Sig trademarks on the box are labeled over.

Something to do with importing and trademarks. It took me a while to find dealer who would cut a deal. I paid $300.00 for it

The sight and light on the OP pictured gun are most likely a knock-off for the Airsoft market.

The Chinese copy almost every cool military, and EBR item on the market. They are very good at it.

They have copied LaRue's rails and mounts that look almost real LaRue.

Magpul has started up a plant is China to market their kit. They call it Magpul PTS. http://www.magpul-pts.com/

They wanted to beat the knock-off's at their own game, and keep the profits here, in the USA. Smart people, those Magpul guys are.

Read all about in this thread. The owner of Magpul has a post towards the bottom of the thread that explains their direction on Airsoft.

It IS fake.

The rear sight on the 55X series (we can get ahold of semi versions in Canada) are welded onto the gun.

That rear sight was definatly taken off before painting...
