So everyone understand I am not getting my FFL for personal use. I live in Rural Ohio, Pomeroy Ohio to be exact. My Mother and Father were gunsmiths and ran a gunshop for years, with two different store fronts. This past year, my mother became terminally ill with cancer, and my father let his FFL go. Most times they wont let someone who gave up there FFL get a new one. Anyways, I have been gunsmithing, and wanted to do it, as a side business, and so when I am laid off I have something to fall back on. I am putting in for my FFL for Gunsmithing reason, and to do special order for people and local LEO's. We for years ran the one shop, out of a building on our land, across from our house. We plan on opening it back up. I have went to my local CLEO, and got my print cards, and gave them there copy of the application. He also has one of my mug shot pictures. I have my application, my finger print card and my mug shot, signed on the back tapped in the appropriate location. I was wondering what else do I need to do?
I plan on getting my FFL, and then going to get my venders license. As we are not really in this for retail, I want to know what I am looking at. My father wants to get back in it and I wanna get into it. Anything seem off with my plan of action? |
| Well before I did the kiss of death and sent it off I checked with the zoning office and the auditors office and I am clear and free to have a business in my house, as we don't have zones in any of the townships. So I am free from all that worry. I get worried easily so I may have been over reacting. I'll keep everyone up to date. |

I surrendered mine years ago and have been thinking about getting back into the business to go along with my Training Business. |

The only case in which surrendering a license would prevent you from getting another is if you surrendered it voluntarily to avoid a revocation and/or prosecution for too many infractions. |

That's what I figured... I just decided to get out of the business back in 1994 or thereabouts due to a lack of "engaging in the business" because of work and a lack of time to devote to the trade. |

If you meet all the (BATFE and zoning) requirements the hardest part is writing the check for the FFL. When the licenses arrives just be sure to keep your books and paperwork up to date. |
