You folks with retail locations... what kind of business hours are you keeping ?
Currently I'm here 7-days a week (Mon - Fri 11am to 7pm and Sat/Sun 9am - 5pm) and it's starting to kick my ass. 
I feel like I need a day or two off and can't decide what day/days to close... Looking at trends, there really isn't any particular day that is slower than others... I've totally given up trying to predict sales... as I can be smoking-busy one day, then do jack-shit the very next day. The other issue I have is... I'm leasing this property... and the thought of paying rent while the store is closed, just bugs the crap out of me.

I'm a kitchen table FFL, if I get sick or decide to go to the range it's no big deal. In your case you might miss out on the guy looking to plunk down cash on his only day off. Hire a retiree part time. |

My logic in being open 7 days a week was because 2 days x 52 weeks = 100+ days of business I'd otherwise be missing out on.
It may be cheaper in the long run to just hire someone part-time to give me a day off once in awhile. 
We only started tracking sales by the day (M/T/W/T/F/S/S)... in October... and Thursdays are pretty clearly our slowest day of the week... (but still worth being here) while Fridays are the busiest by a longshot. (payday for most ppl) The 15th and 30th were both record sales days for this month too... Maybe after a few months of tracking sales trends, I might be able to get a better grip on things... but for now, there really is no clear day that we'd be better off closed. 
Many of our sales are impulse buyers (like me) that walk in without any intention of buying... only to leave with a new AR15 and a case of XM193.
