| Okay, here's the situation: I have purchased quite a few handguns over the last year and half through my local gun store, and never had any problems with getting a "proceed" pretty much right away. Yesterday, I went in to pick up an FN PS90, and when the call was put in, it came back as delayed. Now, in NH, from what I was told, for handguns and "other," the call is put in through the state, but for long guns, the call is put in to the feds. What would be the reason why I never have any issue when the call is put in through the state, and getting delayed when the call goes in through the feds? Don't they both basically run the same check? I'm really confused, and upset by, the delay, as I had plans to make a special trip to the range today to shoot the PS90, but the delay has thrown an obvious wrinkle in my plans. |
| I've noticed a lot more people getting delays in general over the last year, some who always just got proceeds before. So it's not just you. Conversely I've had a few people surprised when they didn't get them because they've routinely been delayed over the years. I just figured that the large increase in gun sales over the past year stressed their system more and they didn't have the time to look at the information so it was passed to the next levels more often. A lot of the delays were resolved in a few days, and in many cases a few hours. |

I see delays all the time, so don't worry about it unless you did something.
A lot of times it could be someone with a similar name that causes delays or just random stuff. I know a guy with a unique last name and has bought tons of stuff over the years and gets delayed every time he buys something. |
