| For a model that has a model name and a number designation, let's say a Springfield 'Lightweight Operator' that's a model 'PX9116LP', what do you write in your bound book? |
|
We would use "lightweight operator". Noone knows what a PX9116LP is by just looking at the book, and the ATF isn't concerned with different model #'s for different barrel lengths, finishes, etc. They just want it to be an easily identifiable reference for the model.
A Remington 700 gets 700 SPS or VTR as the model, etc. |
|
I would put whatever is marked on the gun and then if you think you need somthing else to help you ID it when looking in the book put that also.
my line of thinking is that you can not know all types of guns, when a gun comes in all you can know for sure is what you see on the gun so put that and then if you want to put other stuff add it in. |
