Having searched and read everything I can find on a class 6 license, here is my question.
(I think I know the answer already) Do I have to have a "place of business", state tax id, etc. to legitimately get a class 6 ffl? Or will I have to settle for a class 3 (C&R) not having an appropriate place to set up a retail business? I do not have a place to set up shop as a retail outlet and am not really looking to get into this as a full time business. I do have a local gun shop that I could "wholesale" some completed ammo to, to be resold at "retail", in order to validate myself as a manufacture, although the quantities would not be high through one local shop. |

Like any FFL, you need to have a location from which it is legal to conduct your business (in this case, manufacturing ammunition or ammunition components for sale). If you're doing it from your home, it needs to be unzoned, or zoned for mixed commercial and residential, or you'll need a zoning waiver/variance from the local zoning authority.
Given that you won't be dealing in firearms, only in ammunition, ATF may or may not be more lax in your premises requirements. Given the new incoming presidential administration, I'd expect the ATF to be more strict on guidelines rather than less strict. |
