Glad to hear the positive. Anybody have experience with the VHS-2 Project Simplified Stock? Seems an interesting alternative that's lighter and shorter than the factory one, though durability does seem to be the main concern as its 3D printed, though I've dealt with some rather durable printed stuff before. |

Wont call you stupid but would not do it in your shoes. As to the original question: yes, still liking mine quite a bit. Bought it figuring I would end up trading it off like I did my Tavor. I still have the VHS and have no intentions of dumping it. Its a solid rifle. |

Out of curiousity how close are you running your eyeball to the rear sight? If you are running a much more upright position, you might just have your eye farther back than is ideal for the sights, they work really, really well in a head forward position (and I am also running our Hellion Curved Buttpad which places you an inch closer to it to boot). Sven Manticore Arms I’m as far forward as I can be. I still have the stock buttpad, that doesn’t help. I ran it in a night match back in November with irons and realized how much more I like AR sights🤷♂️ |

| How well does the Hellion's suppressor setting work? I'm thinking about getting a new can to go with the Hellion after I grab one, but I'm definitely looking to grab a reflex suppressor just because I'm a fickle idiot like that, and I buy stuff for my personal enjoyment rather than pure practicality. |

9 Holes Reviews just released a review on the 20in VHS-2. I’m posting from my phone so apologies if the link is messed up ![]() VHS-2 / Springfield "Hellion" (Is it a FAMAS inspiration?) to 700yds: Practical Accuracy |

Work bonus can't come soon enough, though I might have to grab that military style grip module. The gassing complaint does make sense, wish the rifle would barely or not even cycle on the suppressed setting to better accommodate high backpressure cans. |

Are they ever going to release the 20” in Green? Last I looked they only offered the 20 in black. I’ve got a NIB 16” that I’m sure I’m gonna lose my ass on as I’d like to replace it with green 20”. Springfield doesn’t seem to do a great job in offering accessories for these unfortunately. |

I have a black 16" that I plan to keep (I guess) but really want a 20" in FDE or OD I know it's asking too much but it would be awesome if someone made aftermarket barrels for them in different calibers. The VHS/Hellion would rock in 6 arc.

Sven Manticore Arms I’d like to see a factory optic carry handle, a green stock in other barrel lengths or available separately, and a correct factory magwell option with some factory mags imported. It’s been several years, I just can’t believe they couldn’t import some of this stuff if even in small quantities. I bought one of the magwells for factory mags only to find the bottoms are trimmed to fit the 10 rounder. I could deal with that as they still take the factory mags but the only place they have been available has been sold out for a year or more it seems. I’ve tried to sell the magwell to cut my losses but nobody seems interested I assume because no factory VHS-2 magazines are available. ETA I’d also like to see a more correct style pistol grip configuration but I believe someone is making that now. |
|
Well, just because I still haven't picked up a Hellion (Wanting to see if I can snag a 20" on a good sale cause I just don't wanna pay 1,600$ for it because I'm gonna have to throw some more money at it anyways), I sent Springfield another email asking about the CT optic if there is any chance at some being imported, though I expect it to be the same response as everyone else has gotten prior. A 6ARC barrel/bolt would be really cool, but we'd definitely need a bit more spare parts availability for me to get into it on the Hellion. |
|
Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if the optic was crazy expensive on top of having limited utility. Much like the G36 optic carry handles: cool but not actually great for the $600-$1000 they cost. I’d love one too, but I’m not sure I’d want to spend that sort of coin. Yeah, I bought one of the AUG SF scopes for their crazy price when Steyr released them but the cachet there is a little different. I wouldn’t be surprised if Springfield is intentionally limiting the OEM magazine availability in the US. One of the criteria the ATF uses on their import criteria for “sporting rifles” is the ability to accept high-capacity mags. If the neutered form is coming in with the chopped 10-rounders and 922r’ed here for the NATO mags, they may be trying to say there are no high-capacity magazines available in the market for them so it flies. Otherwise they may have to make some other (more expensive to fix) mod to keep them importable. So I’m not enthused by it but I’d rather the VHS be importable and reasonably priced than not imported or higher priced because it requires significant rework at Geneseo. They’d be better off tackling a mag module themselves but then it becomes a question of why bother. I think the longer-barrel versions in the additional colors would be what I’d like to see. I’d like to get the FDE in the 16” and OD in the 20”. Just hard to justify already having them both in black. No interest in the 18” for me. Alternatively, make the barrel assemblies available as replacements and I’d be kosher changing them out myself.I think a slightly different handguard might be nice? The OEM is pretty decent though. Maybe an aluminum one would be a little lighter but it’ll conduct heat more. And given Henry’s (9-Hole) review taking the 20” out to 700 yards with a prism optic and magnifier, the handguard isn’t holding the gun back at all. I don’t want to call it absolutely perfect but out of the box, it’s pretty complete without needing significant upgrades. The only other gun I’ve really said that about was my Bren 805 when I unboxed it. I did the retro mods to it to make it look the original 805A1 but it was great as-is with the NATO mags, folding/collapsing stock, awesome trigger, and great sights. |

Yeah, I think outside of the CT optic, I'm fairly content with how the gun ships. If they ever did ship the CT optic, I'd certainly expect it to be overpriced and underperforming, but its really not a logical choice I'd be making to get it. I have no interest in the original mags for it, and I think the only alternate 5.56 mags I'd want compatibility with is maybe AUG mags, just because I've used them before, and prefer them to AR pattern mags. I'm quite happy with the standard handguard on it from the bit of hands on time I've had. I've never liked aluminum handguards where I live due to the heat so its either been polymer or CF handguards for me. I think I'll be changing out the grip setup to Lunar Tech's clone grip module, and possibly swapping out the stock to the VHS-2 Project's simplified stock to drop a bit of length and weight. |

| Is anyone else having issues with their Jard trigger? Mine wouldn't reset at all initially, I contacted them and they walked me through their adjustment procedure over the phone. Trigger still failed to reset so they told me to send it in for adjustment (on my dime). I got it back and now it has intermittent hammer follow where the trigger won't reset until I cycle the bolt manually. Does anyone know a quick fix for this or do I have to go through the return process again? |
|
See the 4th item and note in the Adjustment instructions. 4. With the hammer forward (Hold the hammer down and guide it forward to prevent damage. Push the sear actuator (7) rearward to release the hammer.) the spring tension screw (14) can be adjusted with a 1/8” hex key. Turn clockwise to increase pull and counter-clockwise to decrease pull weight. If adjusted too tight or “heavy” the sear will not move, adjusted too loose or “light” the sear will not reset properly. NOTE: If screws begin to turn too easily, apply thread locker to their threads to prevent deviation from adjustment. Allow 24 hours for thread locker to cure before use. |

My Jard does not lock back on last round so I went back to the factory trigger, considering doing this |
