It's unfortunate, the Jard pull itself is fantastic and transforms the rifle, but the LRBHO is a necessity for me I'm currently looking for an alternate solution to improve the trigger, including the steps outlined in the video, since the Jard has the LRBHO issue. Might just send it off to Black Talon. |

I got a BLK-LBL. It is a decent product. BUT The BLK-LBL has to be disassemble to mount it on a rifle with a 1.5" diameter suppressor or a muzzle device much bigger in diameter than a "standard" A2 size flash hider. It can't be fully removed when disassembling the rifle. Gets left dangling around the barrel... Yours seems to be similar. To me, the bridge over the front is a flaw. If you have to remove four little screws on an aluminum handguard or remove the suppressor/muzzle device to get it off a rifle, it's a problem. I didn’t send the BLK-LBL back, but I'm not 100% happy with it. They told me it would fit a gun with a suppressor. I specifically ask about it fitting over an installed 1.5" suppressor. They said it would. Then said there was a "miscommunication" when I complained. I haven't decided if I'll slot the bridge to fit over the barrel yet... |

Looks great and durable, only "nice to have" would be steel reinforcements for the QD sockets. Same with the buttstock. Not sure if it's possible at a decent cost, but would give peace of mind. |

I haven't decided if I'll slot the bridge to fit over the barrel yet... @BSJ This seems like a strange point to argue, but I guess we can go throught he "why" of the design. The bridge is not a flaw, it is a feature. The Brimstone was designed to give a rock solid, no flex mounting platform for lights, lasers, VFG's, etc. The OEM polymer handguard is notoriously flexible, partially because it is made of polymer, and partially because of its "U" shape which cannot resist compression. The "bridge" at the front of the Brimstone is there to give additional strength and resistance to flex, and to also precisely control the fit of the upper "arms" to the front mount points on the gun. The only reason to take the forend off the Hellion is so you can remove the carry handle to access the gas piston area for cleaning/maintenance, and if you are doing that, I think the cast majority of people are going to take off their suppressor first as part of that maintenance and cleaning process. You don't even need to take the Brimstone forend off the barrel to remove the carry handle, you can just slide it forward to detach it, leave it around the barrel and have room to pop the carry handle off. I think most people would just demount the suppressor, but to each their own. Sven Manticore Arms |

How does it handle heat? Handles heat just fine- the Hellion forend mounting, for all its weirdness, gives great "standoff" from the barrel, both in the distance from the barrel to the sides of the forend, and also in the fact that there really isn't any direct physical connection that leads back to the barrel as a direct source of heat. The M-LOK slots and open front end give plenty of ventilation space for air to circulate. In short, you can dump rounds as fast as you want and the forend is going to stay cool Sven Manticore ARms |

I ended up buying their non-bipod version as well to give some more flexibility with laser placement. The YHM Phantom QD mount is 1.24" in diameter. The biggest opening on the rear end of the, non-bipod, BLK-LBL handguard is 1.18". The top opening is 1.0". It no fit man! Unless you remove the four itty-bitty screws on the rear retainer piece first. Which opens the rear fully to 1.75". |

Does it really add any more stiffness than if the added mass had been moved to the side wall thickness? I dunno. Aluminum channel is pretty damn stiff. Kinda like every bolt rifle chassis forearm... The BLK-LBL bridge is .10" thick. With two screw holes in it. I'd be happier with my setup with a .60" opening slot to let the barrel through. The marginal ridgety it provides isn't worth it to me. Oh, to add. The gas port is completely impossible to adjust without a screwdriver, from the front, with the BLK-LBL handguard in place. I have to remove the suppressor too... |

Managed to find the real uncut VHS magwell and 30rd magazine. Super tight locking in the magazine. Have to give it a firm tap to seat, even with the bolt open. The mag catch is plastic, so removed it from the magwell and took a little off at a time until the magazine locked in with minimal effort. Really nice having the real VHS magazine. For anyone looking for spare parts, MGW has some. https://www.midwestgunworks.com/springfield-armory-hellion/parts.html?srsltid=AfmBOopq_tJtAbhF72iV0yG3uWc5Ax6wtdFwtxcWR83hSxSnJp9w_hY1 |

If you’re shooting suppressed, that thing’s going to carbon lock and require a tool anyway. I like the Brimstone, but it doesn’t fully alleviate the issue of setting up the VHS for NV use. Mounting a LAM to M-lok is like fucking a midget on stilts, there’s just a fundamental loss in stability. Nothing mounts directly to M-lok, so you need a pic section, mounting a thing that mounts to another thing that bolts onto another thing, and then you’ve got the full seven degrees to kevin bacon. You almost need some kind of longer handguard with a top rail for the 18” and 20” models, or a angled/cantilevered rail that mounts up top, and then just deal with a mess of zip ties running a tape switch. |

The logic is sound but I never noticed any difference in multiple NV shoots or when testing with a side mounted LAM. The zero holds. The key is using aluminum, not junk polymer, pic sections IMO |

The cost of $300 for the Jard trigger pack initially deterred me from buying one. However, my Hellion was consistently shooting 1.5” five shot groups at 100 yds even with the awful OEM trigger pull, so I finally broke down and bought a Jard trigger pack. The OEM trigger on my rifle was a little over 6 lbs and had what could only be described as a 3-stage trigger with the final stage being mushy and indistinct. The Jard trigger pack resulted in a light initial take-up and then a crisp 3.8 lb final stage. As someone else posted, the trigger now feels similar to an AR15 2-stage trigger. The previous posts regarding the bolt hold open no longer working was also a concern. However, the bolt hold open has functioned every time on an empty magazine. So overall the trigger pack was well worth the price considering how much it improved the trigger pull. |

If things continue to look good for it, I'm going to get one sometime early next year. I know there's other options, but I'm not a huge fan of having the original parts modified and like the idea of a replacement trigger pack better. |

| I don't believe there are any weight-shedding options. Most of the aftermarket is replacing plastic with aluminum. |

| I have been looking at getting a 20” Hellion for a while now but have been hesitant because of the trigger. I have seen some videos on the Black Talon Tactical trigger and it looks promising. Not a lot of reviews out there on it though. I noticed they offer new rifles with the trigger job already done and was wondering if anyone has any experience with those. Their price seems reasonable ($500 deposit, +$1425 +S&H +insurance) considering what new 20” rifles and their stage II are going for. I’m just looking for some feedback before I pull the trigger as it were. |

I've used both and would recommend the Black Talon rifle with full upgrade (Stage II) from their website The Jard pack had a great feel, but last round bolt hold open stopped working and I couldn't diagnose the cause. Willing to sell the pack for cheap if anyone wants it, maybe Jard can have a look Overall, much happier with the Black Talon job. They had my rifle sent back within a day |

I just recently bought a new OD 16” vhs, I think the newer ones have a better trigger than the early versions. I bought one when they first came out, and trigger sucked, sent to to Bill Springfield and it was much better. But my new one I’m just keeping as is, unfortunately I don’t have a trigger scale to check and see what the pull is, but it feels pretty close to the one I had Bill clean up. Pic cuz it’s always good to see guns, my green gang Attached File |

Trijicon low scope rings with the 34mm 1-8 Credo is a nice match for the Hellion. I have a blk lbl handguard/bipod incoming as well. Then I might finally be done messing with this thing. ![]() ![]()

Got my JRAD trigger in yesterday and installed it. HUGE improvement, a smooth and consistent take up( thats a little long) but a well defined wall and a much lighter break. The rest is great also. Haven't taken it to the range yet but so far its excellent. My bolt hold open functions still also. |
