Is the small piece of rail the best place to mount a light on the Aug M1? Anyone have a picture of a light mounted in that position?

Retains ability to QD barrel.

Works on every AUG, from A1 to M1 (except for the discontinued A3). Also should work on the MSAR, but need to verify.

In my opinion, the rail offers two distinct benefits, 1. Ability to mount whatever you want forward of the receiver and 2. When combined with the Steyr Extended rail (both rails are on the same plane), the sight radius can be increased for use with BUIS, and hence the theoretical ability to retain zero with barrel removal on BUIS.

So who makes the rail?

Like the extended rail, PJS designed and makes it, and eventually PJS and Steyr will sell it. No price or availability yet. Everything I know, you now know.

I believe he said something about it on the phone when I was talking to him, and he doesn't know if the market is big enough to mass produce them yet. I believe I do need one though.

This is how I do it on my A3.

The above rail looks good. Too bad it won't fit the A3. What's the weight?
I'm waiting for the F90 with all its rails.

Yayyy! Will totally buy 1-2. Definitely putting one on my 24" barrel for a bipod mount.

In terms of mounting a weapon light, I have the Pup Light mount, and I really like it:

spidercomonkey, could you recommend a flashlight to work with the pup light?
Thanks

I'm using the Surefire P2X Furry. Works perfectly and looks handsome on the AUG.
