Does anyone have a lead on where I can get a new stainless steel magazine catch/release for an MSAR? I checked at Ratworx but did not see anything there, any ideas are appreciated.

There was a thread on this before. The part you're looking for is non-existent. You might look for a stock for sale; I think that would be your cheapest option.

That's unfortunate, thank you for the info - much appreciated.

Can you post more about your issue? I have an MSAR and love it.

Have you tried to see if an aug part will work? There are some rifles around; my local shop has one. I haven't checked on spare stocks lately; you might try GB.

Can you post a pic of the non-working/broken part?

Per my guy, call Pete at PJs SteyrAug.com or something like that.

The original mag catch was plastic and had an issue of getting chewed up by metal mags. The replacement was stainless and made the issue go away.

So in theory exclusively using Pmags in my E4 should cause no problems?

Yes, in theory polymer mags should be fine. I had issues.because my mags are majority GI Aluminium. My 20rd mags especially were sensitive before the swap.

Per Pete, the aug catch should simply work in an STG stock. In an E4 stock, maybe with some filing.
Ratworx didn't know.

This is such a great forum!

No hybrid bolts yet but they're on the list, still.

I actually really like my E4.......just a shame the company went belly up and there's now zero support for the platform, or spare/upgrade parts for them.

I have a extra parts like firing pin, springs, and even extra butt plates. I also have a spare E4 stock. M original and the spare have updated mag catches.

The E4 really is a great platform. MSAR failed because of its owners and not because of MSAR being bad.

I'm sorry for those who have orphaned guns and can't get any support for them.  However, given the behavior of their management, I'm glad the company is gone and the owners lost their asses.  Stupid, crooked, and dishonest should hurt, and right now I hope the principals are on an morphine or oxy drip and still in excruciating pain.

My "orphaned" E4 has probably 5000-6000 rounds through it without a single FTF/FTE. I ran my serial number past a member here who used to work for MSAR and he confirmed the gun is unquestionably well built.

Unless I missed a memo, these E4's are excellent guns. The mag catch issue is minor....and correctable. Beyond that, couldnt be happier with it.....as far as bullpups go.

I agree about MSAR management being . What a train wreck.

Did all E4's ship with plastic mag catches?

I thought the E4s had the square bolts.
I bought a gen II with forward assist and an E4 stock, both which were converted to square bot mag catches.
It has been great and will be a keeper.

Don't know. When I got mine and the extra stock they had the plastic mag catch. Before they folded I sent both stocks in and got them updated.
