Do the serial numbers on the barrels and the bolts usually match each other and match the receiver serial numbers? I just received a new AUG M1, and the barrel is numbered differently than the bolt which is numbered differently than the receiver and bolt carrier. Is this because the parts come sourced from different manufacturers? Barrels from FNH, bolts from someone else (steyr maybe), receivers from vltor, etc. Just curious. Thanks

Should all match, the owner might have replaced some parts. Or it might be a parted together gun.

This was purchased new, so if you are correct, that is a bit disturbing.

The M1 only has a serial number on the carrier and receiver.

This.  The other numbers are part numbers or date codes.  Generally 4 digits IIRC.

I'm laughing because I went through the same freak-out as the OP.  And yes, this is the correct answer - those are part numbers.
