I have an E4 that I hadn't shot in a couple years. Anyway, it has the mag catch problem. The mags get stuck. I researched and found that this was a known issue and I believe MSAR even issued a recall.
But, somehow I missed it. I called Ratworx today, but they said they sold the last one they had last Friday, and that basically they didn't know what to tell me. As of right now, the gun is a brick. If anyone has any idea where to get the parts for the mag catch update I would be very grateful. I can't even sell it the way it is now. Thanks |

I called and spoke to Mark. He basically said I'm SOL, and to take it to a gunsmith.
He mentioned that they are going to be making some spare parts kits, and the mag catch will be in some of them. But he had basically no idea on a timeline. I'm not going to hold my breath. He couldn't even get me a 3d blueprint file of the part. He just said the factory is all locked and those files are in a secure computer they don't have access to. What an absolute disgrace of a company. I will continue to try and steer people away from their knives as much as I can. In the meantime, I'm stuck with a worthless, non-functioning piece of shit I cant even sell. If anyone has any leads on a mag catch, I would happily donate a finders fee. Thanks |

Well I just really don't know how. I also don't have access to any kind of 3d printer or cnc machines.
Does anyone know exactly what the problem was? I have read that it was caused by the spring stretching if the rifle sat without a mag, and also that the plastic catch wears down. Is it a little of both? I can't even tell what/where the mags are getting hung up, so I don't know where to start. Anyone have any ideas of any other possible fix? |
| Call Aaron at Ratworx, very nice guy to deal with. He currently has an FDE complete E4 receiver/stock listed on gunbroker. It also has the metal mag catch upgrade. Maybe he might pull the auction and just sell it to you on the phone. You could use it as a spare. |

Quoted: He issue I had with mine was that the metal of the GI magazine started cutting into the plastic of the mag catch and it was just enough to get mags stuck. This was.especially an issue sith my GI 20rd mags before the swap. Wonder if Pmags would prevent that, if used exclusively? |

Out of my eighty mags only twelve are Pmags and I got them after the swap. |

I have an e4 stock that came as an extra with my msar. I have never shot it with the e4 stock.
Get with me if you have any ideas as to how I can help the cause. I will say I may be hard to get a hold of since I have a wedding on Friday evening four hours away and am awaiting Baby Rico's arrival any day now. BR=grandson #2. |

That is why the factory and files are locked up- the bank owns what is left of it now, not any former employees or even Microtech. The fact that you were able to get hold of anyone at all is something of a stroke of luck. I would not count on ever seeing spare parts from or for MSAR, sorry to tell you this. | I guess I got lucky. I sent my MSAR E4 back about 6 months ago because of the mag jam problem. The gun shop I originally bought it from sent it back directly to them for repairs. Took two months to get it back and cost about $100, but it works now. That is the only problem i ever had with it. Now it just sits in the safe because I only shoot my Tavor and FS2000 now. |

Dumped mine as soon as I got the Email from them telling us we are SOL and they are closing.
Had a shit ton of money in my rig and don't regret trading it even to a NIB Ruger SS Scout in .556. Yea I lost my ass but you know what? This Ruger I know will work every time I pull the trigger. My STG/E4 was a toss up here lately. My next pup will be the DT MDR after I watch it for a year or so after release. |
