I'm currently waiting on a 13x1to 1/2x28 thread adapter from Ratworx, and trying to figure out the best way to get a Surefire brake mounted.

The AUG in question is a CQC model, with an 18" barrel. The threads for the base barrel just peek out of the CQC rail, so the threading adapter should clear it with enough room for the Surefire brake and suppressor mounting. The Surefire brake requires timing, and has a bunch of shims that come with it, along with some rocksett.

What I was thinking was, I could just crank the Surefire brake down onto the threading adapter (with rocksett), and then put some rocksett on the threading adapter and the check nut, set the timing of the brake via the threading adapter, and then cranking down on the check nut to tighten it all up.

Does this sound like it will work? Or should I just crank the thread adapter with some rocksett, and install the brake properly timed with shims, with rocksett?

Set it up first with no rocksett and check. Rocksett is an SOB to remove.

Curious about the 18" barrel on the CQC.
Did you order it that way from Pete, or did you get a spare 18" barrel and have him put the circular collar on the barrel?

Got the last one from Pete's black friday sale. Pete put the CQC spacer ring on for me and loosened the flash hider.

And yeah I will definitely be dry fitting it all without rocksett to verify everything first.

In for a reporting suppression success.
Sidenote, I had considered getting the aforementioned adapter but stopped when i heard about the suppressor that ties into the gas system.

I have a couple Surefire 7.62's already, and with the mount system they can go on most of my long guns. No point in me getting a proprietary suppressor.

I ended up rocksetting/torquing down the adapter to the barrel, then gripping the adapter itself and rocksetting/torquing down the brake.
