It would be nice to have a central thread for all the new things related to bullpups. Pictures, videos, links, etc.

Thanks for the pics, maleante.
Looking forward to the full info from Steyr and DTA.. |

No pics of the new DTA semi auto .308 bullpup? As for that Steyr....finally a variant I'm interested in. I like the original lines of the 1.5x optic and will finally pick one up if the price isn't stupid expensive.

It's going to take me a long time to save up on what Arf pays their moderators.

Very excited to see trigger packs for the Tavor. It's already pretty much my favorite rifle. With a better trigger on the Tavor my ARs will be seeing a lot less range time.

Awesome work, Mal.
Since you caught up with Art from ShootingSights and tried his Tavor trigger, I'm hoping you're planning on checking out the ones from Geissele and Timney as well and give us a solid unbiased opinion. |

Looking at all the bolts/screws/fasteners on the side of the gun...the Bioshock/retro comment is right on. It's sort of neat, but like in an AK/trunk gun way, not an AUG/Tavor/etc. way...if that makes any sense. I probably wouldn't mind having one, but I wouldn't want to pay more than I'd pay for an AK. Maybe the other model and hands on )this is Kel-Tec, after all, will change my impression. Let us know how it shoots if/when you get one! ETA - waiting to see how that downward ejection works out, though. |

Here's some videos of the new Kel Tecs. They look a lot nicer when you can actually see them being handled.

How about those Kel Tecs? Some details for ya: http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/650x287xIMG_6401_small.jpg.pagespeed.ic.1WSgVH7KPO.jpg Kel Tec is revealing two new bullpups at Shot Show this year with their RDB and M43. Scaling down from their successful RFB .308 rifle, the RDB and M43 are both .223 bullpup rifles using downward brass ejection system rather than the forward system of the RFB. The RDB is the modern variant, while the M43 is described as a “cold-war inspired design.” The internals on both rifles are the same, but while the RDB features polymer and picatinny, the M43 is all wood and steel. New rifles in old styles are something I’d like to see more of. http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/650x318xIMG_6403_small.jpg.pagespeed.ic.k-RWdjfjvZ.jpg Both rifles feature a 17.4? barrel and use a short stroke piston system. The bolt travel is quite a bit longer than conventional rifles in order to eject brass out the downward chute behind the magazine well. The magazine release on these is a metal slider in a similar position to the Tavor’s magazine release, right behind the knuckle of the shooting hand’s thumb. The bolt release is an ambidextrous setup, but the charging handle can be manually locked back as well. The RDB’s optics rail mounts directly to the barrel, while the M43 has a heat shield over its piston. Rather than optics, the M43 has integral folding sights, with the large front sight base being threaded onto the end of the barrel. The barrel on both rifles has a substantial length of 1/2 x 28 thread. On the RDB a spacer is followed by a standard A2 flash-hider, but on the M43 the front sight base threads onto the barrel with space for a flash-hider. http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/650x286xIMG_6405_small.jpg.pagespeed.ic.yzD9a230Mu.jpg The charging handle we saw was reciprocating, although numerous Kel-Tec representatives said they are working on a non-reciprocating version. We did see a folding charging handle on one of the M43s that made for a much lower profile on the rifle. Kel-Tec’s new rifles are certainly unique bullpups, and the wood and steel concept behind the M43 is something I think deserves some praise. We’ll have to see when these guns actually appear on the market whether they find acceptance in the growing bullpup community. View Quote This is actually growing on me but i think i still prefer the desert tac one....although the retro one im liking more and more...now if someone would release an em2 clone i'd be a happy man |
|
I think they could have lowered the sights on the M43 just a tad, looks a bit odd. Otherwise, I like the idea and aesthetics of it. Definitely something different from all the uber tactical stuff out there. Not something I would rush out to buy, but if I currently had plenty of disposable income I would probably get one.

Will the new aug scope fit an A2? Interface looks similar, but it looks pinned at the front and doesn't appear to have the detent plunger.

View Quote Thanks! $2200 5.56, $2450 .308 No pricing on the conversion kits, and 'coming out over a few years,' after 5.56 and .308, but time will tell. Looking to see one of them being fired at some point, and how reliable the ejection is. The close up in this video made it obvious the non SBR is just an added hand guard, so a single chassis for the compact/SBR and carbine length. If time shows them to be well made and reliable, I can see buying one in .308 at that price, although I'd love to see it lower. |

Well, to each their own! Interesting that the receiver on the new optics equipped model has the "bump" at the front instead of machining it as an A3 receiver. From a production and interchangeability standpoint that is kind of, well, not the best decision... |

MSRP of the Kel Tec RDB and M43 - $1,900 - 2,000. Ouch.
That's in the Tavor and Steyr AUG range. Bullpups are always expensive. Hopefully street prices will be lower. |
