I tried my MSAR out with my Surefire FA68K yesterday.
Worked OK. Some points: Much louder than on an AR. Don't know if it's because my head is right next to the action, or something intrinic about the rifle. On an AR, the can makes it sound like a .22 LR, very easy to shoot with just plugs on a range with a roof (which keeps the sound in). With the MSAR, I reached for my muffs after a round. No relibility issues with the can, though I did have some issues with the Lancer mags (see other post). Was quite a bit of bullet drop with the supressor. The barrel on my MSAR does not lock up very tight anyway, and I can change the POI by pulling down on the foward grip. The weight of the supressor must bend the barrel down slightly, as there was no POI change when I put the supressor on a sandbag and took the weight of it off the assembly. Have not cleaned it yet. I'm sure the piston is completly black with gunk now, the joy of shooting supressed. Overall, with the POI change, I don't think I'll use the combo in the future, though I do have a Surefire Micro awaiting a Form 4 approval, and will try that out - the lighter weight may not result in the same POI change. |

Have you seen the suppressor fromratworx? Supposed to be the cat's meow but since I don't have one I shouldn't have brought it up but I was excited about it because it would allow suppression on a bullpup(I have an msar)because my CQC will not accept a suppressor.
The word on ratworx's can was that it was so much quieter but first swear I can't tell doodley squat from YouTube sound bites! |

I run a XXX Warrior on my E4 and only wear plugs. The only time I use muffs is when I am around other "loud" guns going off.
It will be a tad louder than a AR due to the gas port report. Mine is still way more quiet than W/O the can. I pretty much run the can on it all of the time now. As for the POI mine was about 4" off when I took the can off. I installed this > click me and now my POI is about 1" off. It really brought the accuracy up. |
| I noticed a big POI shift too so now I just run suppressed all the time. The noise doesn't bother me. I don't see why so many people say they don't suppress well. I don't see paying a fortune for an integral suppressor just to trap venting gas when the rounds are supersonic. That is the loudest noise regardless of suppressor. Now if you had a 300BLK barrel and running subs, then I could see maybe wanting that. But since we will never see that barrel, I don't see a point. |
