Finally got it to the range today.  93 degrees, no wind.

For the second time, it took WAY too long for me to get a T1 sighted in at 50Y....like, and embarrassingly long time.  Couldn't see where it was hitting, so I had to aim at the ground and do some Kentucky windage to get it on paper.  The ACOG was sighted in within 18 rounds (I do 3-shot groups).
Overall, I shot about 260rds today (all XM193 5.56) and didn't have a problem--except, when I inserted mags, sometimes the top round would pop out (gotta easy up on those mag insertions).  The recoil is definitely less than any of my ARs (probably since it's a bit heavier and all the weight is in the rear).

Does the TULIP muzzle device act as a brake or just a flash hider (or both)?
It was very flat shooting.  With the T1, my groups were 1-2", with the TA31F they were 1" except for flyers here and there.
I kept forgetting the bolt release is in the rear, and tended to just rack the CH.

I was surprised at how much I liked the TA31F--I've always heard the eye-relief is so bad that one should just go for the more forgiving TA33 (with tiny FOV) or the TA11 (despite it's size/weight).  The TA31F was great and I didn't have any trouble with eye-relief....now I'm wondering about all those piggy-backed RMRs and if it would render the T1 obsolete--it's my main HD sight, so it's on the rifle most of the time.

Pretty much, unless you want to play with night vision.  With an RMR at 12 o'clock your head is up thus allowing somewhat faster shooting on the move.

Another great thing about the stacked ACOG/RMR is you can run different color reticicles.  Here the green contrasts more against the outdoor environment.  Red is better indoors for me.  Amber is difficult to pick up quickly anywhere.

Trying to post a pic but it won't upload for some reason.

Trust me. It's sexy, functional and you NEED it.  It made more of a difference than I imagined.  If you don't like it there are many uses for the RMR somewhere else.

I have a red 6.5 adjustable RMR on my glock 19--the original non-adjustable i had (RMR02?) was great, but my new adjustable has more fisheye and tint.

I read the GREEN dual illum had darker tint than the amber and was harder to see in dim light, so I went with the dual illum 12.9MOA amber Triangle....since it's mainly for 15-75Y....I may put it n the glock and the adjustable on the AUG (I just like the battery life extension on the pistol, which is in a dark pistol safe 99.999% of the time.  With botach's 10% off sale (code:  TRIJICONRMR), it was hard to pass up for like $330.

There's a lot of hate for the piggy-back, and a lot of Aussie mil-guys and three-gunners using offset mounts, so even though I got a piggy-back mount, I ALSO bought the GG&G offset 1 o'clock mount to see if it's doable without losing an eye to hot brass.  I may rig up some kind of brass deflector, knocking it out and away more...

Which reminds me:   One of the most interesting things I noticed was that 95% of my brass landed in the same 24" circle.  There were outliers, but the vast majority of my brass was basically in a pile--never seen anything like it.  There was a screen to my side, but I don't know if they were bouncing off of it, or just going backwards 7ft and to the right 6ft, but that's where the pile was.

QUESTION:
I've seen a few AUGs with a bit of electrical tape or Velcro near the ejection port, but I don't know if it's to just protect the finish or if it serves some other purpose--anyone seen and know about this?

I have that. It is the soft side of the Velcro. It protects the stock, as ejected case tends to bounce off the stock first, and dent the polymer. I put it on before even the first range trip.

I previously has an MSAR AUG years ago... Did the same thing... I do the same thing in the trigger pack for the PS90 too. Old trick.

Where do you place it--do you bend it around and coat the inner edge of the rear-side of the ejection port.

ETA:   Just checked my gun and found little, light marks about an inch back BEHIND the ejection port in a somewhat dimpled part of the stock (wouldn't think brass COULD hit it there, but it's the only thing that could have caused it that I can think of).

You just figured out where to put it.

Yep.  Off to Lowes to get a strip of Velcro.

I wonder if a nice thick patch of Rhino-liner would work just as well

I'll check my options and look for that as well--didn't make it to Lowes tonight (twin toddlers foil all my best laid plans).
I think even just a triple or quadruple layer of electrical tape would help eliminate or mitigate it.

ETA:  Can I cut an AUG A3 barrel back to 14.5" and perm-attach a device without it messing up the gas ports?  I'm wanting to cut away the LH13x1 threads for a 1/2x28RH Muzzle Device, but don't want to have to monkey with the gas port size or anything.  Anyone cut/perm-attach with their AUG or hear of problems or not??

$330 is a great price!  I had an amber rmr dual illum but it was really hard for me to use.  It seems to me the amber was to ease strain on the eyes.  Better on a magnified optic.

The curve of the rmr top edge helps me to frame the shot as I transition from low ready.  Combined with the forward grip the 1 o'clock seems it would be less reflex action more deliberate movement.  Try both and give a review!

Will do.  Dry runs with nothing on their make both seem pretty easy.
It'll be here in a few days, and I'll write up a report.

I am not at home, and my better pics do not show the ejection port side. But here - you can kinda see where I put it... Behind the ejection port.

I used that self stick kind. I put two strips on to make the covered area wider:

Life is too short to worry over such trivial things, go shoot ,have fun and stop worrying.

Yeah, it's not bad--I can just see it digging a hole through the receiver after 20,000 rounds, so a little protection is a good thing (though even with protection I ended up with twin girls, so now I'm a bit over-protective when I can be).

I've got 20,000 rounds through my AUG without any tape, velcro or anything else on the stock, and there is just a stack of nicks in the stock. No hole has been dug, but I think that if I had about 200,000 rounds I might be able to make a bit of a dent.

Send me your ammo, and I will try to blow through this thing.

haha!  yeah, well, i'm down to fumes--probably only 1500 left...until prices come down, i can't take a class or even hit the range but once every 2-3 months.  even .22LR is hard to find in Jax, FL.
--
i really do want to fashion some kind of brass deflector so that i can tilt my head a bit for an offset RMR...just have to work out the details.  i wish i'd paid more attention and/or got some HD video of the ejection.  it is WEIRD the spot it does hit...guess it spins almost straight backwards (but in videos, it just kisses the people shooting lefty).
--

So is the tulip a brake or a flash hider or a little of both?
It shot very flat and had very little recoil.

I'll post a picture later tonight of a stock that has >20k rds though it, mostly on select fire.
I don't put anything on my stocks (and probably never will).
I never gave any thought to it until I read on here about different products and ways to stop the "dings".
