I didn't really like having my light on the side rail of my aug. I had to activate it with my trigger hand, which took focus away from firing preparedness.

I wanted something that would be very lightweight, would allow me to activate my light with my forward hand,  and wouldn't require replacing the stock forward grip

This is what i went with

Nice.

How do you like the single point sling?

Nice setup! What sling is that?

Very nice.

I was planning on getting a light with a remote switch. Then run the switch somewhere where it's convenient.

I don't like remote switches. Can't trust em. Just one more thing to break

Not to mention, remote switch for X300 ultra'll run ya about $150. Little mini rail, $30, and you know that the mini rail won't get cut in half making your light in operable

The sling is the new blackhawk sling with an AUG sling adapter.

Wow, that is ugly.

Care to specify? Which part do you not like and why?

Ugly? Compared to most AUG light mounting solutions, it's almost beautiful.

Is it all plastic (except for the screws) as it appears to be?  I'd rather they threaded into steel, but I can put a locknut on the exposed threads for extra insurance.

The link states: Precision machined from aviation-grade anodized aluminum

devin, I have a tapeswitch for a Surefire light. If you get a light like that I will let you have the switch. BTW: it was for my STG and while it worked it was too much trouble.

Also: what happened to you today? I never got a call to hit the range.

Ah.  Thanks.  I couldn't get the link from my phone, and it looked plastic-ish.

Ya know, from the picture, I can see why you'd think that.

It's rock solid and all metal. I'm pretty sure that the light would be in tiny mashed little pieces long before i managed to bend or break the mount.

I personally like it a lot. I'm sure it's not for everyone, but i like the fact that it allows me to operate the light completely independent of my firing control hand.

I didn't want to spend several hundred on a solution that required me to replace the forward grip (which i like quite a lot).

I was never going to mount anything else on it, so it would have been more rail space than i had a use for.

Whose sling adapter is it?
Looks like the Urban ERT with the plastic connector, as the Blackhawk pics seem to be a D-ring?
http://www.blackhawk.com/product/Single-Point-Sling-Adapter,473,94.htm

I've got an A3, and as I'm sure you're aware finding a good sling isn't so easy, seems everyone goes with the ERT or a Vickers, but I've yet to see the Vickers on an Aug or MSAR, and it seems likely to interfere w/the charging handle...

where did you get it?  How much?  It's similar to Surefire barrel mount solution.
