Hi,
I am really hoping someone can help me out with something... I recently acquired a STG556 that is all OD (including barrel, foregrip, etc) and was told that it was a Gebirgsjäger limited edition- it has a fitted MSAR marked pelican case, but the knife is missing, it has no factory optic (from what I can tell from what I see on line, that is where it is marked with the Edelweiss insignia), no sling, and the case seems to be laid out differently than the ones I am seeing on line.

The serial number is in the 600- P011xxx (last 3 digits are under 499) range- can you tell me if I do in fact have a Gebirgsjäger edition? I have tried calling Microtech, but the message said their firearms division was shut down, spent hours searching online for a picture of the same model, all to no avail. ANY help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your time!

Post some pics and we can help ID everything.  A lot of the cased editions got broken up - I have a Tan special serial numbered gun that someone has the matching knife out there.

The  Gebirgsjäger rifles were serial numbered "Gebirgsjäger 001 - Gebirgsjäger 500".  They were great rifles.

I called the knife number and they said the firearms division was temporarily shut down.  Here are some pics.  Thanks!

So not a Gebirgsjäger, but possibly another limited edition of some sort?  (fingers crossed, lol)

The engravings on the side rail aren't filled in, and I bet the engraving of the serial number and MSAR logo aren't filled in so I would say that is a factory full green paint job.

IIRC they did 5-10 rifles up like that.

The Geibjager (sp?) edition will have a small flower (eidelweiss) engraved on the front of the receiver/rail.

Is that a round lock or square lock on the stock/receier?  It looks round in the pictures, but I thought the green painted ones were much later, possibly after Dave left.

Whatever the case, that really is a beautiful rifle.  Was the price on it pretty good?
